In this video I'm showing you how I organized and batch created my Week In The Life project for 2023. This is an Ali Edwards project where you document your life for one week. It's a great way to scrapbook some of the little moments and stories that might get forgotten otherwise. For this project I decided to created faux pocket pages to allow for more flexibility and options including a variety of photo sizes.

I have done a few project 365 albums and none of them are finished. Making the backside of a pocket page was always challenging and this is an excellent solution. They are still quick layouts but seem easier to put together. I am determined to finish mine, I have all the photos in an album on my phone so it’s doable. Your photography skills really shine in this album.

I hope you find some time to complete those 365 albums. Looking back at the everyday life type pages is so fun! When I'm doing a project like this my photos and stories are so much more intentional and I spend more time making it special, taking different angles, etc. I can't imagine doing a 365 project though, that is a lot!

Thanks! I think this will be my go-to instead of using a pocket page (except pocket plus of course) for that exact reason that I don't have to worry about the back of my page and what's going there!

I love the idea of faux pocket pages.They look great with the embellishments overflowing. I do a photo a day project and like to capture some of those things I wouldn't normally take pics of.

Well I don't like rules so the overflowing grid design is my way of breaking the rules I think! lol I've never done a photo a day project, but it's a great way to document your everyday life.

I've done a few 365 Albums, including one for each of my girls the first year they were born to see all the changes that first year, but I have never thought of a week in the life and I absolutely love this idea. I love your fake pocket page, pages such a neat idea, I also really like how you can "over flow" when you're embellishing. Now I want to go start one!

It really is a fun way to add journaling and create custom pocket cards. I keep finding new ways to use Canva! I actually taught how to do this in the Creative Design Team membership back in July and showed all the members how to create their own cards. I originally had printed out cards and was going to write my journaling by hand, until I realized it made more sense to copy and paste it in and then print!

This is FABULOUS Chelsey!!! I have only done one week in the life (still working on it) and it’s a vacation my husband & I went on. I have a few pages that are a grid style which I guess could be called faux pockets. I love your planning process and appreciate you sharing that with us. . You have motivated me to do another one of just every day life. Especially because life is so much different as an empty nester than when our home was filled with little people!

I really like the faux pocket version you created. My big plus is that you don’t have the same grid on the back side you need to use. This was always an issue with me to use the regular pocket size pages. I never liked that the front was ok and the backside looked like tossed together because I was limited to the same design. Your faux idea is genius and makes it really fun. I have to find a subject that will work with this and give it a try….maybe weeks in December.❤ Thanks for sharing this Chelsey and your pages are looking beautiful.

It is a really flexible way to document a lot of photos and stories. I really like having the freedom to make the front however I want without worrying about the back and using larger sized photos. I hope you give it a try, some December layouts would be a fabulous idea!

Yes math 😂 I cut all my pieces 1/8” smaller and then lined them all up before attaching them to the base page one by one. Once I figured out my measurements it was easy from there. I hope you try it!

Haha yes it was a bigger project and definitely took some planning. The creation part wasn't too bad because I did it in batches, spaced out over a few months. If I tried to do this all at once, beginning to end, I think I would've enjoyed the process less!

Love that this project has helped plan your wardrobe for the week!!! The shading over top of the stamped image with alcohol markers looks so good (squirreling that one away for future!). Love your week in the life project pages that are faux pocket - such fabulous planning. The 4"x10" photos are such a fabulous size!

I couldn't resist at least trying to coordinate our outfits with the daily colours. lol These were fun to make and now that I have my own printer I need to figure out how to do a 4x10 photo...I'm in love with that size too! Plus I could print two on a single sheet of photo paper so that's a win!

I documented the same week as Ali Edwards and I'm only doing it once a year. You could definitely pick any week though. I can't keep up with a yearly project, but I love the idea of capturing snapshots of our everyday life.

Your faux pocket pages are awesome! I love that you can basically use any size photo you want to. 2023 was my second year doing AE Week in the Life project. After doing it in 2022, I knew I wanted to do it again. I love that it makes me slow down and notice all the so called smaller moments of my life 😊

2022 was my first year too! It is a really big project, but definitely worth the time it takes to photograph, tell the stories and put it all together. I agree about slowing down and noticing the little details. There is so many things that get missed in the hustle of everyday life!

How in the world do you have time to do it all?? Seriously you amaze me!! This takes alot of time and organization too with you doing the sketches and all the preplanning before you ever even did the layout. I would love to do this for my grand daughter. My son gets her a week at a time and my husband keeps her while our son works. I also work from home so get to see her then too. Not sure how I'd do it trying to work and take pictures too of what she's doing during the day. She just turned 3 last month plus starting preschool next week. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Haha it is a big project, but I didn't do it all at one time. I lived the week and took photos and wrote my journaling every night. Then several weeks later I cut all my paper and photos and created the grids. Then a couple of months later I wrote/printed all the journaling. Finally in another session I did all of the embellishing. I think by breaking it up into chunks it's more doable and more fun. For your project can you ask for pictures from your husband and son? Or you could start by doing a Day in the Life, so pick a day you're with your grand daughter all day or most of the day and take all the pictures and write your journaling. It's a smaller snapshot of the everyday, but could be a great starting point for you. Happy crafting!
