And that is why Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the best metroidvanias i have ever played. THEY PRESSURE YOU TO MASTER MOVES WHICH IS PRETTY DAMN COOL
@@PureJudgement38 To be honest, this is one of the best games in terms of platforming. In fact, almost all of your upgrades are maneuver based. It's just that some have offensive secondary effects.
You almost never need a hand holding tutorial to teach a mechanic in a game. If you think you do, you haven't demonstrated the principal well enough This section is a prime example of this. Teach the mechanic gradually in a sequence that feels meaningful that they will never forget.
This might have been the best executed tutorial for a tricky move I ever got, as intense as it might have been. No loading times, the Music never stops, no punishment for failing, triumphant adrenaline rushes and best of all: making every enemy in the game and their projectiles your bitch upon clearing it
And that's exactly why I keep dying on purpose countless times whenever I replay this game and made it to the Ginso tree escape sequence. I just wanna enjoy the music and not speedrun out of that tree like a lunatic 😅Same goes for the Forlorn Ruins
+Jake the Snake I agree... I actually went as far as to say that the game strategically placed this epic piece to keep me from rage quitting. It worked. I didn't. :)
2nd game is a front runner for GotY. One point behind Animal Crossing according to critics, but unlike that game (and Doom for that matter) the users scored it equally as high as the critics did.
+Fie Yeah, exactly. :D I was so mad and at the same time so excited hearing this music the first time I played the game. I tend to come back to playing it once in a while and when I get to this part, I always feel so disappointed when I finish it on the first try.
The way the music continues after you die was the perfect way to motivate/encourage. That escape sequence was the most enjoyable/rewarding experience I've ever had playing a video game. This piece of music was an integral part of that experience.
*Restores the water* "Wooo! Nice Gisno tree is done!" *Achievement unlocked **_RUN FOR YOUR LIFE_* Me: wait run from what?... *Immediately drowns* *_AHHHHH_* I just beat this sequence yesterday, and this is seriously one of the best if not the best game I have ever played, especially this sequence, can't recommend this game enough
Exactly my reaction after done rescuing the Ginso Tree 5 years ago. This part is truly amazing. I played it again 3 days ago and even my friend watching it got chills and said it's super intense yet beautiful
when I first restored the water I was like woo! yay! :3 then I saw the achievement run for your life and the water came through the walls and I was just there going SHITSHITSHITSIT SHIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!
I started this game today and manage to save the Ginso Tree. When this theme hits as I escape the flood, I literally cry(no joke) cause this song gave me that intense dread as I don't wanna loose hope while my potential torrential doom comes near until I made it. That alone quickly made this track impactful & memorable to me.
I'm a big fan of hardcore sequences like this. You're on a timer, need to do a series of hard tricks in one go, without any checkpoints on the way with a beautiful music in the background. It was my favourite part of the whole game - best dungeon escape sequence, best music, best ability to abuse. Took me about 15 tries, but I was trying to get all the experience orbs on the way because I was afraid that I won't be able to come back :р
Yeah it's why Sandworm is my favourite escape in the series. It's brutally difficult and generally one mistake costs your life on hard mode but god damn is it fun and god damn is the music there amazing.
It wasn't the sequence that made me love it - it was the fact that I was testing out the coolest game mechanic that I had just learned to its extreme limit. Also, the music yes.
Funny thing is, I never wanted to finish this part in one go. The scenery and the music was so gripping and epic. I knew that once I'd complete this part of the level, I wouldn't be able to replay it. I'm sure many of us failed on purpose just to experience the epicness again and again haha
@@ZoSuryanto its basically in every major point in the game lol. not that thats a bad thing! they never reach ginso tree escape level, but i dont think anything ever will.
Tbh I love this as a true bash tutorial The sections leading up were like "hey this is how you do this thing" and this is like "alright I hope you're good at this or are ready to get good because there's no brakes on the water train"
It's like the music itself is cheering you on, saying, "Keep trying, you can do this! Don't give up now!" I love that it doesn't start over when you die!
@@Soulmaster36 There won't be a third Ori game. The devs stated that they did everything that they had planned for Ori and do not plan to work on a third title. "We really felt that we told the story that we wanted to tell - Ori's story - across the two games. It's really Ori's journey, and we're happy with where it ended and what we wanted to say through telling that story. If you've finished the game, you can see that we've left the door cracked open a bit for a potential continuation, though we don't have anything specific to share at this point and time."
Restoring The Light, Facing The Dark Jump Jump! Unless the water consumes the entire tree. Jump Jump! Come on, we've got to finish this Jump Jump! Come on, The light is fading from us Jump Jump! Or else Nibel is no more Jump Jump! Don't let the darkness burn the world! Thy dear sweet Ori, watch the water rise. The darkness seeps into the woods. Thy dear sweet Ori, flee into the night. as we restore the light that faced the darkness within yourself. Thy dear sweet Ori, jump and jumping high. Your time is coming far... and nigh. Thy dear sweet Ori, the light calls. As the dark owl seeks their vengeance, fulfill your destiny.
This maye be one of the best ...no, this is one of the best sequences in gaming. I have enjoyed many of them but i will always remember the Ginso tree escape. It caught me of guard, is challenging, emotionally loaded...i love it and its soundtrack.
Started playing this game again after a few years because this song started creeping up in my head for some reason. The whole soundtrack is amazing but this piece in particular really stands out, and I hope I'll be able to create something even a fraction as beautiful in my lifetime.
I actually did finish on my first try just two days ago. I took damage from the water once near the beginning, then made it to the end fairly safely. I didn't grab either ability point pickup though. It's a heck of a moment regardless. Beautiful, epic game.
I recently bought an Xbox one a few months ago. The first game i tried was Ori and the blind forest and... I keep playing videogames for 30 years now, and couldnt be more happy for the existence of this truly Masterpieces of video games, theres so much love and passion. Truly unforgetable.
I just saw the achievement "run for your life" after fixing the tree, I was like "wha?" and then I saw the water rising. favourite part of the game right here
One of my favourite setpieces in a video game ever. It comes out of nowhere and just hits you with this incredible sense of scope and speed that gets the blood pumping more than anything. The music keeps its loop even when you die, so the pace is never broken. My first experience of it had me on the edge of my seat as I tried and tried. At the end, you finally get to catch your breath until Kuro opens here eyes and the adrenaline kicks right back in as you're sent plummeting right back down. The scene just ends on a cliffhanger. Absolute masterpiece.
Usually not into these type of games and never heard of this one. But after randomly meeting one of the developers, talking about how much he loved working on this project i decided to try and get it on this year's summer sale. Really like and and this sequence alone is a masterpiece. Even though I died a hundred times and i normally would rage quit in frustration i still enjoyed every second of it and couldn't stop trying.
This soundtrack sounds like "don't give up mate, try again!" But in a beautiful and adventurous way. The first time I experienced this level is also the first time I actually "play games" on a pc/laptop and I'm not used with keyboard yet.
powerful song. What i get from this song and the escape from the tree, is how relentless nature is, capable of destroying both good and bad in its path
When I bought the game I was like... hey this looks interesting. When I started playing the game I was like... wow this is great! When I got to this particular part... I was in *awe* Such a fantastic track. It fits with everything that's happening. I didn't care that I died several times trying to get out. It just meant that I could hear more of this music. Thank you SO much for an extended version. I'm listening to this on repeat as I work and do chores. It motivates me to no end
Going through this difficult part of the game when your vision is blurred with tears from the beauty of the storyline and soundtrack. Such a unique experience
the great visuals, the great confidence boost you get when get to the main part of the song, the rush of ''oh shit lets dooooo thisssss'' energy, great song altogether and the spike of satisfaction when you complete it all in one neat package with a bow
Just binge played this and will of the wisps over a week. I have never been so terrified / mad / frustrated / happy / amazed / determined all at once ever in a game. I wish I could play this for the first time again. Achievement get "Run for your life" - huh?? OH GOD.
I recently did this escape sequence for the first time and I had no idea what was going on and I kept laughing and smiling my ass off at how epic yet terrifying it was. I completely lost it when I had to use Gumo as a launching platform
@@shydreameress264 I'm currently doing a no-death playthrough of Will of the Wisps. I gotta say, Blind Forest was good, but Will of the Wisps is just fuckin magical
So, just so we are clear... Beautiful, heartfelt soundtrack. Heart-rending, uplifting, motivating story Loveable, multi-sided characters. A memorable, deep villian. And this is the FIRST game from a NON-AAA studio on a SMALLER budget.
Just played through this part for the first time, and I head to look up the theme immediatly. And as if the universe wanted to make this theme even more epic, there is thunder and heavy rain outside.
