Why isn’t this kick-ass woman more popular?!! Seriously, the country knows the Kardashians but not this extraordinarily talented woman?!! Shame on all of us!!
Because it takes money to appreciate people u know! that's the mentality...rather someone will complain that she destroyed the jimi's song and that she ain't even a good player..😔on another video i just came through comments on people just getting pissed on John Mayer playing the song, seriously John Mayer... 😅
I don't know why people would even try to compare this to one of Jimi's or SRV's versions. It's her interpretation. She nailed it adding her own unique flavour with passion and confidence. That's what music is all about. I think anyone who ever played in front of an audience would agree.
Stellar performance 4 sure!!! I love all three versions. For me this is the best version live. Her and the school of rock's version of gimme shelter by the rolling stones is fn awesome as well.
actually, she is decidely average. I know thousands of guys who play in local bands who would blow her off the stage, but because she is blonde and cute, she is "amazing". Any lead guitar player will tell you, she is playing well, no doubt, but she isn't playing anything that difficult.
@@Retrospective. No, I think Graham is onto the truth here. A REAL professional in the music business isn't petty. They are supportive of other musicians. You've never been out of your garage, I'll wager. LOL.
I think it is easier to play in such large venues than in small clubs with 500 people, because in stadium you are standing too far away and in small venues you have an eye contact, at least in my experience.
@@Alexanderius yeh, I see what you mean.. I've played just a few gigs ~150 people each, and still my biggest buzz was my 1st.. Heart in my throat moments.. Orianthi's young enough still to be doing all the running back and forth to give as much as she can to the audience.. But I guess the adrenaline would be pumping..
Orianthi has been doing it for many years though. She was Michael Jackson's guitarist for the This is It tour, so she has the knack of working the big audiences and killing it on guitar at the same time.
Cool as woman!... If Jimi was looking down on this, just imagine the smile on his dial... I'm sure he'd feel very honoured and proud that Orianthi would include this in her set... Not to mention how eager he would be to get up there and play another few licks he's been working on in the last 50 years in his Electric Church...
Me or her?? I don't understand if you think it is me. If you think it is me, you read or misunderstood my comment. Try to make your comments more concise so there is no confusion. Don't be shy...tell it as you see it...but don't be rude.
I keep watching this performance and I have never in my long life seen anyone who can play like this while running across both sides of a large stage. She is NOT faking it.
You just gotta love the dudes criticizing this fantastic player - she's playing a stadium, and they're playing their computer keyboards in their parents' basements.
Well said mate. I'm a gnarly old git who's been playing donkey's years, I've seen them all from Clapton to Holdsworth and a lot of the younger ones and I think you have to acknowledge players who get out there and deliver, she's great.
Peace out Orianthi...
shes played with some of the best guitarist on the planet))))makes me laugh how people judge about something/someone they will never be.i guess some people just dont understand))) and never will.
Dear armchair guitarists in the comment section, A) Let's hear you do better. B) Of course it doesn't sound like Jimi (or Stevie), they are both dead. It sounds like Orianthi playing a Hendrix song...or in other words...a "cover." When you do a cover, you can play it however the hell you want....that's the entire point of a cover. That's EXACTLY why we want to hear covers. If I want to hear Jimi do it, I'll listen to Jimi do it on his own damn record. You think Stevie got heckled because he didn't do it like Jimi? ...Well......yeah of course he did....because people are stupid in any era.
I love watching and listening to Orianthi play this (and in the This Is It music too). She's so talented. I love her energy, sound and look. I bought a guitar and am taking lessons because of her!
Stevie and Jimmy are Smiling... and are on their feet... This is the Best version of this song I have ever heard my Dear... I have heard them all... You just made my list of the Greatest Guitarist of all time... Take care and have a great day everyone Stay Safe...
This is the best female guitarist I’ve ever seen in my life this girl has more talent in her guitar playing skills and singing voice than I could have in entire lifetime this girl is incredible.
In 62 years once upon a time a girl arrives on the scene...who is she? Pay attention now cuz this is mind blowing, crazy train, goose bumps raw guitar talent that could reform rock and blues.
Haven’t seen this artist in a while. Besides the guitar playing, which is casually phenomenal, l really like how her vocals have matured. She’s added a strong voice with a natural country twang. It surprisingly compliments Voodoo Child.
Some can't walk and chew gum at the same time,,,mannn, shes running and spinning, the vocals match the the notes,,up and down the scale,my God,, dear lord, please take care of this little lady,, be with her all the way in all of her travels and endeavors,,WONDERFUL!!!
You people criticizing her would have been making the same gripes about Jimi in his day for relying on "gimmicks", "butchering" the blues, showing off, being sloppy and out of tune, etc. He's your hero now, but you'd have been haters back when he was getting all the attention too. Your envy and whatever other hang ups you have only let you focus on the negative. She's great, get over yourselves. Jimi wasn't the fastest or most precise in his day, either, does that mean he doesn't deserve his recognition? She's put the practice in, and has earned all her accolades. Instead of being jealous about the little public recognition she's garnered, save your bitterness for the plethora of truly untalented and undeserving "artists" and "entertainers" etc. who are far more rich and famous than she is, or any of us will ever be. She's on our side. (Now I sound like an old hater too, I guess - lol)
id also like to point out that music is always changing. even when stevie ray vaughn was coming about blues music was changing too. I love the newer blues today! as well as the older stuff. But the blues today to me is just a new more energized version of the older stuff like hendrix and stevie ray vaughn.
Led ZeppelinFan You named yourself after a band who've been sued many times for blatantly ripping off other songs, and are going to criticize her originality? Hendrix played a lot of covers too, you know. At least he and Orianthi gave the writers credit. And she does play originals. It's hilarious how jealous dudes try to criticize her, when the same jabs can be made at their heroes. I love Zeppelin and Hendrix and classic rock, but I can't help but respect her. She's better than a lot of celebrated male guitarists. And she definitely plays better live than Jimmy Page. What is there to complain about? She's worked hard, is playing well, having fun, the crowd is into it, most of the people watching this like it. She's doing exactly what great musicians are supposed to do. Stop looking for bullcrap excuses for being stuck up bitter crybabies.
I would kill to have a studio recorded version of this. Been coming back to this video for years whenever im feeling like listening to voodoo chile because its my favorite version!
I'm so glad I ran across this video as I've always wanted to know just who was shredding her guitar on an Alice Cooper tour a few years ago. I was fortunate enough to have seen Hendrix play this song live back around 1967 Yep, I'm a codger. I can not attest to all the technical jargon as I just play a mean stereo, but one can be glad certain music carries forward through the years. Well, Hendrix, Jeff Beck, & Pink Floyd.
She does a good job of copying Hendrix. I've seen Hendrix live. He is an original with many that wish to copy. If she could WRITE and play something like this, then I would be impressed.
@@chipdwyre3120 People don't criticise classical music soloists for not writing the original music, they appreciate a masterful performance and interpretation. Have a look at Hillary Hahn playing violin and then say you're not impressed because she didn't write the music.
@@ACDZ123 Thanks for following my page thank you for the love and support ❤, i will honor you to write me via my private official email and i will honor you.
This video made me a fan of Orianthi and of PRS guitars. I've got a bunch of the PRS guitars now, and still look for any opportunity to see Ori live, because she always puts on a fantastic show.
No. Jimi was been alive since 18/9/1970. This girl was born 22/1/1985. She is not keeping Jimi alive. When this girl passes away, Jimi will live on (unless evil takes over our earth).
Orianthi in this Woodo child , is fantastic ,high level usage whammy ! orianthi is one very goog guitarplayer and beautiful show girl ,normaly EIRE is going up .thanks MISS .jackyfan 👍💖french......
This performance was absolutely in Jimi's spirit from all of the band. I have heard a lot of performances of Hendrix songs. The most of the groups prefer the "Hey Joe". Is not that often we can hear the Voodoo Child, which is for me the song I love the most and maybe the most difficult to perform. Well done Orianthi. You nail it!
She is an excellent performer. If you want to see how good someone is, see them live, or in a live recording. She not only has the chops, but she carried the ensemble. Her drummer dragged at times, but she pulled him along. Her back up had trouble with intonation for the first third of the song at least, but they didn't pull her off center. She holds her group together and still works the crowd. Impressive.
I listened to Jimi when I was 13 and she nails it note for note , AND! Every particle of feedback and whammy and slide 🛝 WHILE running across the stage too! Too awesome! Jimi would be rolling one in the place he’s at 😊
@@HungNguyen-xv7mj b/c you just suck as a Human? JK, I feel the same about The Beatles so I get it. & NO she is NOT & will NEVER be Hendrix but she is awesome!
Totally agree i would like to see the people who say negatives put there version of themselves playing this tune on guitar on you tube i have being playing over 50 years i will not say any thing negative about any one who can play an instrument out of respect for them because it is extremely hard work .but everyone has a right to their opinion i guess.Take care. Oshawa Canada
3 years with Alice Cooper:) Like Carlos Santana said, she's not just good for a girl, she's one of the best, period. I'd love to see her play with Samantha Fish, blues seems to be her favorite:)
Love reading the comments of those who think they could even play this half as good as she is. I guess the haters are just gonna hate and not recognize real talent.
More goose bumps, knock me out. She should be a main draw for concerts, taps into the magic of guitar heaven. Jimi is smilin' down on Orianthi for this lick. ROCK ON !
Orianthi. you are true artist who plays with so much passion and virtuosity !! A truly stunning performance that is one of the greatest interpretations of Jimi's classic, but not only that, you have done what few other guitarists have even come close to doing, you have given this piece a new and original perspective ! You are a guitar goddess, long may you rock !!!
Pretty good. She did her own thing while still keeping to the soul of Jimi's playing. To many people try to replicate how Hendrix played and by trying to be overly technical they miss the mark.
I agree.. And I think anyone who tries to replicate or emulate Jimi misses the mark, fullstop.. You can learn any version of any of Jimi's songs note for note, and not come close to sounding like Jimi.. And besides, if he could get up on stage right now, he still couldn't get it identical to any particular song version, and he wouldn't want to.. Its about getting into the groove is what's important and let come what may...
@@BarbarraBay I never said that Jimi's soul was in "this" playing.. No one can recreate Jimi's soul or his playing.. It's an impossibility and I'm sure you'd agree... If you want to get all uppity about it then that's your problem.. Jimi had a caring, calm and love for how music gives to people and brings people together.. I just think that if he was looking down on this scene, he'd have a big smile on his dial.. His love and his music lives on.. There is a stadium full of people there who now know about Jimi.. They will talk to their friends and family about it and so on.. That's all Barrbarra...
@@jasonrule7140 Randy Hansens got extremelly close tho, if you close your eyes you may actually think that's Hendrix playing, also his singing voice is absurdly like Jimi's.
