So you ended up with an IOU? Ya, it takes a bit of sculpting. Imagine that you're in clay class and you have a round cylinder of clay. I'll bet you could figure out a way of turning it into a heart. It's the same with origami. You just need to shape it like a heart.

Ok, I did it for my sons 16th birthday... He gave me a 1/2 smile( which is GREAT for him!!). Just took me a little longer( & more stress) then I thought lol! But I'm glad I did it.. Maybe shoulda started with simpler..

Doing this for my boyfriend, ima fail miserably since you go to fast but its really good! **Edit** I just finished it after like half an hour, not as good as yours but very close! With more practice i hope mine will be just as good!

I saw that model too, but it uses a completely different technique (box pleating) and it's more difficult and ends up much smaller than my design.

Norah Connelly I had the same problem when I was first learning origami about 6 years ago, I'm 15 now, but as you get better, you know what is happening because his finger movements. You'll know the nature of the paper better and it will be much easier to understand what is going on even if you don't have the best view. If you keep getting better you will also keep up more easily. Also watching the video over before actually doing it will give better results. Good luck!

+Matthew Chan Sorry... I tried to be as clear as I could, but I guess it wasn't clear enough. Perhaps try something simpler or watch the video using the slo-mo feature. I am curious... where did you get stuck? Perhaps I could add an annotation explaining the step better.

Is it best to do this with a crisp bill, or should it be semi-worn? I also got completely lost with the heart. Though you did a great job explaining how to do this heart, and I appreciate your efforts and all, but a bit more explaining with how the heart works would be great. How the dip in the top part of the heart is where I was getting frustrated. I got frustrated and ripped the effing dollar bill in half! LOL Yeah, it's my issue...I didn't need to do that. :) Slipnot would be better, btw! =)
