Jesus people shes trying to make the video efficient, after all it is a youtube video, you can watch it multiple times or slow it down if you need more time. Its honestly a great video that explains all steps without redundancy

I'll be honest. It took me more than three hours to make, looking at this video and the book. This is a highly difficult origami if not shown slowly. With the co-operation of the book and the video, I did manage to complete this dog. If you want people to understand how to work through it, camera angle is key, which i understand can be hard if your fingers are unintentionally in the way. And I agree, speeding up the video for some parts only built up inner turmoil for this piece. However, if you don't give up and be exact I can still guarantee that you can achieve a natural shaped labrador.
@Happyfolding
@Happyfolding 5 лет назад
Congrats on completing the dog. Thanks also for the feedback. In my more recent videos I've done less speed-ups. The videos are longer, but I hope it's easier to follow along if, for example, the folds on the other side (often mirror-image) are shown slowly, too.

This video is amazing. I have the book and was trying to follow the instructions but they were a bit vague and I struggled to follow past step 25 so I took to RU-vid in hopes that I could find the exact model I was trying to create and I found your video. I have made 3 so far! The first one was so messy! But repetition is really helping me to improve and to allocate it to memory. Thank you!!!

I have been making models for my granddaughter for much of the year. I send her an envelope containing several each week. I just found this channel and it is the best of the many I have found and followed. The steps are clearly shown and explained unlike the silent channels. The photography has good contrast allowing prior folds to be visible. The paper has contrasting front and back colors which assist orientation. The pacing is good. Speed is never an issue because of available RU-vid speed control. Your explanation of the the more complicated folds has taken the mystery out of the videos on other channels where those folds are also used. Thank you Sara for greatly improving my origami learning experience!

Finally I got it! After I lost 2 hours in the first try *anger*, I tried again a while later and take me almost 5 hours with a "slow motion" video, but with an A4 paper it was more difficult than I expected and my origami isn't as gorgeous as yours. But I started a little time ago, I don't expected to make perfect origamis yet, I'm training and I'm already happy to make this hard model (another achievement unlocked). Thank you to the tutorial. I'll try easier models now. Kisses :*

@jaibalasubramaniyan7592 4 года назад
Agreed, this woman is pretty great at origami, its annoying when your paper tears. Whenever I get stuck I just adjust the playback speed and re watch the part. Unfortunately, my paper often tears when I keep repeating the extremely confusing step. Its hard, especially in videos of origami artists such as Jo Nakashima, oh so many creases! But oh how many things he can make. The 'easy' origami unicorn turned out as a disaster for me. :(

I'm sorry to hear that. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. Be glad you didn’t persevere to 6:50. The issue is that the fold was so small I couldn’t tell what she was doing. I feel like it needed another zoom and then maybe a tad slower. Super frustrating my daughter chose this and bailed forever ago. I thought I’d persevere but that was ridiculous. The book is even worse.

I have the Totally Origami book and I have a REALLY strong feeling that Steven Casey messed up the diagrams in this one. Here's why (it would make more sense if I could show a photo): 1. Begin white side up, fold and unfold diagonally 2. Fold bottom edge to diagonal crease 3. Fold point A to point B, make a small crease at top 4. Top left corner marks one third (the image doesn't match the instructions, it tells you to unfold an area that the instructions don't mention doing that to) 5. Fold the edge to meet the third 6. Fold the other edge toe3t from from step 5 7. Fold botttom edge to meet the marked intersection, then unfold 8. Fold top edge to meet fold from step 7 9. Fold and unfold diagonally, rotate 45° ETC. Your start is completely different to the start in the book that I have

@lilrotta5770
@lilrotta5770 3 года назад
yeah. that part is really hard. that's why I looked this video up. because I actually have the book that this is in, (Origami Animals By Hinkler,) and I got stuck on that part so I looked this up and it helped. this model is really hard. I'm not finished with it at the time that I'm typing this, so I don't know if I'm going to end up being able to do it or not, but if I do end up doing it, it's because I've had a lot of practice. Currently, I'm in 6th grade, and I went to a private school and didn't do pre k from my first year of school, to 1st grade. then I switched to a public school. but in the private school, rather than pre k or kindergarten, they called it primary. it was just 3 years of kindergarten that you would start when you were 3. and in my 1st or 2nd year there, a kid made some origami Yodas out of post-it notes. they were offering them to people, and I got one. when I got home, I unfolded it, and folded it again, and then did the folds on another piece of paper. ever since then, I've been doing origami. so I've been doing it for 9 years. and I still can barely do this. so don't think its cause you're bad or something, 'cause it's not. it's just really *REALLY* hard.

if you would move what you are doing into the middle of the camera area we could see what you are doing. Many times you move the paper area you are folding off the visual field.

I agree that it's frustrating when the area of interest is not in the center of the frame. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. Aside from folding the model itself, I have to pay attention to a bunch of other things. This requires concentration and my eyes on the model. So I cannot continuously check whether the model is in the center of the frame. Still, I try my best to achieve it every time I record.

It's definitely a more advanced step, which is why I tried to show it in detail. Try watching it in full or maybe even twice before attempting it on your model. I hope you succeed!

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you try pausing the video after I show each step, so you can complete it at ease?

I'm sorry to hear that. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. This is what I've done many times in the past, and it's always been so rewarding to see how I progressed, finally managing to master the complex folds that were too difficult for me before.

@@Happyfolding It's not too hard. I managed to complete this origami, im just saying this editing is not helping anyone, especieally those who are not "pro"

For God sake can you just slow down and show us patiently so I can do this part 6:20. Or just make a remake video

Try the RU-vid player's settings to slow down the video. Perhaps that helps? Plus, it's a more advanced model. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one.
