I know that this isn't the most difficult one, but I'd still like to meet the person who first took a piece of paper and figured this out (or any of the others). That is intelligence that I'll never be able to understand. It was hard enough watching a video of someone showing me the steps.
I totally get what you mean! I, for one, am convinced that the people who design origami do so in a different dimension! Cause how could they possibly come up with something like that here?!?...
Probably random experimentation, and when it results in something interesting, trace back your steps and memorize them. Source: A redditor went from this to an origami Nether Star that way (which is why I'm here BTW).
So I was finally able to make one. It took many, many rewinds and several suicidal/homicidal thoughts. But I finished it. (Using white paper in the video definitely didn't help.)
Mine almost looks like a dragon lol. Starting at 8:26 I’m having difficulties seeing what’s happening. The paper is white and the lighting makes it difficult to see the folds. So I know if I had the folds that are missing it’d probably look more like a dragon. Mine currently doesn’t seem to have proper feet and the head does not look right. Can you remake this video with different color paper?
Seriously! I’m watching it over and over and have no clue what is happening in that spot…. Edit: I figured it out! Just wanna clarify: Other than the lighting, this video is great and was very helpful. Good pace and even I (who has never done origami before) was able to do it!
Yes!!! I made it! It’s a little wonky and it got difficult to see really clearly what you were doing after about 8 minutes since the folds become very precise and the white paper does provide much contrast to distinguish them, but I MADE IT!!! Thanks for the video.
I have no arms, but I want a dragon, so I got my grandmother to help me never been so happy. She died out laughing, though when I asked her to make me an origami dragon, best time of my life.
To anyone struggling with 8:20, they're essentially folding the top of that corner in so that the whole shape can kind of fold in half inside itself. A better angle for this is at 9:47. They do the same thing at 10:02 for the other side so you can watch this part for another reference. They also tend to turn the paper a lot so make sure to pay close attention to how your paper is oriented when you're folding. This definitely isn't easy but I thought it was a pretty good challenge. But the video quality is trash and there are some other videos of this dragon out there where it's much easier to see the folds.
This is the video that got me into origami. I've been doing it for about a year and a half now and this is still my favorite figure to fold! I get what a lot of people are saying about how this "isn't easy" but compared to most other origami figures, it's actually quite easy, just requires a little precision and lots of patience!
I had a difficult time with some of the folding, decided to give up and forgot about this for a few days. I came back today and was able to figure it out! Sometimes sleeping on it or stepping away and coming back really helps
For people giving up hope: I didn’t get it until about my third try when I got a little more practiced. It felt really worth it when I finally made her, though. I know the folds look really complicated/hard to see after the 8 minute mark, but really just folding both sides in on themselves in half.
Okay I've got it. you take the left part, the side facing you (not the one on the back) and you fold the top edge down to the bottom edge, then you flip it over, and do the same thing with the other side.
Great patience challenge!! Litterally spent more than an hour completeing this. It might be an "easy" one to do, but next time please make sure you use colored paper and decent light! Anyway thanks for this it's a reaally cute model :)
This dudes patients is amazing! I had to start over because I was getting stressed out! Nearly tore the head off 🥲 Edit: Took a cat break at 7:12, Im back though! Edit 2: The head though looks… unique?

This was actually a bit hard, but nevertheless, it came out okay (which is incredibly amazing for me) even with the lighting which was slightly darkish (so I couldn't really understand all your folds) so thank you for sharing with us how to make an origami dragon.
If youre used to making paper cranes, then it should be easy up until the 8 minute mark. Then you gotta try and pay attention to where the person folds the creases and how they move the paper. You got this!!!
Thanks for the upload, but please do it on a coloured paper the next time because its hard to see the complex folds in the later part of the video on white :((
I had wasted my 1 hr for this but I was unable to do some last steps then I was very angry and I crushed the page and throwed it in the dustbin finally......
I wasn't aware, that a single sheet of empty paper could a make grown woman cry. I almost did. Everything went well until 08:15 and I thought "Well, isn't it nice that for once something is labeled as "easy" and it really is....". Then came 08:21 and I had to watch it at least 30 times and still couldn't figure out how to make that one single fold. That has to be repeated three more times. 😓 Now my dragon's ready, a bit crooked and limp, but standing on my desk, I'm sweaty and super proud of me. I didn't give up. I didn't burn it. I didn't even smack my desk, not even once. I just ordered origami paper, and hope that after the 10th dragon things (folds) will become easier. Thank you so much for the tutorial. 🙇♀️🙏
@@easyorigami9421 Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just made a second one, and although I only had a 15 x 15 cm paper it was much easier to fold this time (the paper I used for the first one was too heavy). Have a lovely day.
this took me 45 more minutes in total and it is doable but so hard to understand since the piece is flipped around a lot and the brightness of the light hides creases and folds, you need to be really invested and determined to complete it :,) good luck to everyone who tries
Awesome! I've watched this very carefully a few times and made 2 so far. Now I'm going to make 3 more on cheap paper and get better technique. Then I'm going to make 20 on pretty origami paper and give away for Happy Wood Dragon Year 👍🏻😊 thank you for the great video instruction.
Mine turned out really good but it would help if you could explain with subtitles or something since i was confused af halfway through the vid. Still very cool
So I'm reading the comments and I see that a lot of you are frustrated with the lighting and lack of two colored paper. I'm making a Udemy course that explains this better. I'll include better lighting, double sided paper, bigger paper, and a voiceover. Coupon will be commented soon, but the course isn't finished yet, so hold tight for now. :>
