Paper used in this video: 30 rectangles with a ratio of 2 by 5, cut from 3 squares with a side length of 25 cm (10 in); rectangles: 5 cm by 12.5 cm (2 in by 5 in)
Finished model: diameter of 14 cm (5 5/8 in)
This video describes how to fold a fantastic modular origami Undina Kusudama designed by Maria Sinayskaya, as well as an easy method for an even color distribution when using modules in three different colors.

I'm absolutely loving everything about this model. Looking back through your videos, it's hard to believe I've been subscribed for 13 years. I remember being introduced to this channel watching you put together the 5-intersecting Tetrahedra. So glad to see this channel is still going and that I can learn new things here. What a gorgeous model, thank you for sharing it with us Sara. I absolutely love the tip for even 3 colour distribution, I always tend to use a 5 or 6 colour, because the rule is easier, but I will start making more 3 colour models now I know without fail how to get it right every time! :)

really love the curves in this one. i feel like with a sturdier material you could definitely use this for a lighting fixture or some other piece of furniture.

I agree, the curves are what drew me to this model. You're right about the lighting fixture, too. It would make a stunning piece for sure!

Absolutely, a thick plastic material might be good, you'd probably have to score it along the fold lines, but the curves would really pop well! Paperchase in the UK sell large sheets of plastic in different thicknesses, up to 600 micron if I recall correctly. On the same thought though, it would be nice to use colour lighting gels like they use in the theatre? They come in a huge array of colours and thicknesses and are also suited to the heat of a light too.

Not only have you shown me another lovely kusudama design, you've provided a way to assemble a kusudama with 3 differing patterns/colors and have them equity distributed! 😀 You've no idea how happy this makes me. I tend to make kusudama as gifts for friends and they usually request 3 colors. I've been using your video of the Skella Beta model to match the assembly patterns but I always mess up at some point and end up with areas where units of the same color next to each other. My friends don't mind the mistake, but it always bugs me. Thank you so much! You are amazing!!!

Ein schönes, filigran wirkendes Modell, Sara, insbesondere durch die geschwungenen Linien. War zwar ganz schön fummelig beim Zusammenbau, das Ergebnis ist jedoch der Mühe wert und das Kusudama ist stabiler, als es aussieht. Besonders hilfreich sind Deine Tipps zur gleichmässigen Farbverteilung bei Verwendung von 3 Farben! Einfach genial! Die Tipps werden so manches Wieder-auseinander-bauen eines Kusudamas zukünftig unötig machen! Super! Danke & LG Gabriela

Ja, der Zusammenbau ist etwas fummelig, aber das Resultat um so schöner. Und mit der Dreifärbungsmethode muss man es zumindest nur einmal machen. :)

I find it difficult to get a neat and precise assembly where the 5 modules meet. And you have to be careful on which side you are folding after precreasing and cutting so that the precrease doesn't show off in the finished model. And kusudamas are noch really my favourite type of Origami, I really enjoyed doing it and even made three different models to master it. Tant does quite a good job, because it is sturdy and has no w.hite backside. Thank you for challenging me :-)

I'm really happy that you enjoyed the model, even though there were some challenges. I also agree that Tant is a wonderful model to work with. The first two I folded were from Elephant Hide and Tant, both look wonderful. Kami is a more accessible paper type, though, so I decided to demo the model with that.

I usually buy my paper at origami conventions or from www.origami-shop.com/ In my videos I almost always use normal origami paper (kami), as I did here.
