Please add Hank Azaria's name in the description as well as the website to his non-profit he spoke about. Thanks so much for recording this talk. really important! JUst saw the film at the San Rafael Smith Film Center and was blown away STUNNING.
This movie was compelling and profound. The content is irrefutable and needs to be told again and again. My hats off to Aunjanue, you deserve an Oscar for your performance. Ava I love and respect your brilliance. My grandson did a school report on you for Black History Month. I'm proud of you like a momma. Congrats on your Oscar win as well. I'm speaking this into reality.🎉🎉🎉❤
This movie was life changing for me. Its not going to be in theaters for much longer and I missed the first showing at 4pm and had to wait 3 hours for the next showing and baby, it was worth it. GO SEE THIS!
Having met Isabel Wilkerson in person, I was simply amazed at the performance and the fact that I wasn't actually looking at her. The film was moving, but my visceral moment was watching the men in the "PIT" ... that scene really broke me 😢😢😢😢
That scene and the beautiful little Black boy tense on an inflated pool lounger, not allowed to touch the water-that inhumanity crushed me. 😔 We all must learn that silence in the face of injustice is acceptance.
Incredible film. Thank you for bringing your creativity and innovation, even without studio backing . There are so many great examples you have given on how you and what you brought this body of work. Bravo 👏🏾
I started crying in the first few seconds and didn't stop, in between the gasps of new information (thinking I'm an informed person, haha) and trying to keep my heart from completely breaking. Now, I have a new language to help me talk about difficult subjects. Thank all of you and everyone involved in making this movie become a part of my life.
01/29/2024: This movie is excellent. It is entertaining and educational. I plan on buying the movie. I have love actress Aunjane Ellis-Taylor since "Girls Town" and "Undercover Brother", her performance in this is outstanding. Now, I have to read the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.
