Original Air Force One Thrills Texas Crowd 

Sorry to report that Karl Stoltzfus passed away last November from pancreatic cancer. He was amazing. His son, Mike, is carrying on with the project which is nearing completion. RIP Karl.

Wrong. The first AF1 was a Boeing 314 Clipper used in Jan 1943 to take FDR to Morocco for the Casablanca Conference.

This beauty was parked for a few years at the airport in Santa Fe, New Mexico before being moved to Marana.

My grandfather was the Navigator on that plane.

Such beautiful lines this plane has, like a fish or a dolphin, nowhere close to the straight-walled cylinder that a normal fuselage is. The Lockheed Constellation is swan song of an obsolete technology, the once mighty radial engine that fought two world wars.

I remember seeing & hearing Constellations flying into 'Idlewild' & Newark. Very cool sound.
