I just bought a game boy today for 10 bucks guy said he was selling it for parts not working. I cleaned it up…put new battery’s and got it working!… all it really needs now is a new screen. I’m going to install this new screen set up! I’m so pumped Thanks for all the help!

I'm planning to get a backlight on my dmg I got it with broken front board no sound or video but headphone Jack works so tested it it works just needs a front board replacement so these mods are useful for my dmg-01 I found out it's from 1993

love this mod and i will probably do this someday [i have 2 gameboy, so i can keep one 100% original], but i seriously can't stand that bracket, because you'll end up seeing it trought the glass. i'm already using a black shell so in the end it will mask it a bit, but i wonder if there's better brackets, like a smoother one, or at least a glass that covers it better.

Yes I think there are more options with the brackets than what was done in this video. This is an early example of an IPS mod and I think now there are brackets that are not visible through the screen cover

I recently read that the buttons stop working properly with this mod, because you have to change the contacts board. It is true?

So far I haven’t had any problems with it. The new button contacts are higher quality than the originals (copper vs carbon traces) so I would be surprised if they fail. Can you send me a link to where you saw that?

5:40 could you use Kapton tape or is it a height issue also?

I think this is a height issue so it needs to be trimmed down a little bit

That sounds like you might have received a defective screen. Take a look at the screen around the border, is there an opening in the case?

@@LIRetroGaming never mind. I used thick double sided tape and it was putting to much pressure on the screen. Removing it fixed it :)

hey, do you know if the website still keeps up with classic Gameboy parts? I got my first Gameboy free and the screen has discoloration around the edges and vertical lines
