Like I said in the past, Im glad I grew up with Star Wars, not Disney’s “Star Wars”.

Dude…. Vader clapping back at Palpatine “Yoda is the other threat. Pity you failed to end him my master” and then Palpatine doing like a cross galactic force choke or lightning on his suit to circuit his breathing would have been AWESOME

The worst part is that Ewan was on board for the movie, and liked the concept... and they STILL scrapped it!!!

The fact we coulda had Obi-Wan, Maul, and Vader in a project not named Rebels and they PASSED ON IT is all time high treason.

I don’t know, man. Sneaking Leia through the heavily guarded inquisitor fortress in his trench coat is obviously a much cooler story.

What I keep learning from these scrapped story leaks, is that Disney, at every step of the way, stepped on the toes of talented people who actually cared about what fans wanted to see. Corrupting their vision until it was a 'safe' corporate product

There’s a universe where we would’ve had this Obi wan film, Lucas’ sequel trilogy, and the cancelled star wars games. Getting tired of saying this regarding Star Wars but it’s such a damn shame. It’s like what a previous comment said, more “could’ve would’ve should’ve happened”

After watching this I'm convinced... Disney will never make another good Star Wars product. It's physically impossible for them... Unreal..

Maul and Vadar in the sams film would have hyped the audience so much because then we'd all want to see Vadar and Maul cross paths and fight which would have been EPIC. Two apprentices to the same master fighting over who was the better sharper apprentice, who had the greater anger, and who deserved to be at Sidious side to then take over the galaxy and kill Sidious. That would have charged the fandom ssooooooooo much.

This show hurt me more than the sequels ever did. The incompetence from top to bottom is baffling and disgusting. I keep being recommended Andor but I haven’t watched anything since.

What I love is that your reaction to initially hearing Beatties plan to have Kenobi leave tatooine was "Hell no" similar to a majority of people, then when you heard how they would actually implement it, you came around to the idea and that shows how to take a normally unpopular idea like Kenobi leaving Luke and turn that into a good story beat that even people who wouldn't like it can come around to it. Something that Disney just can't seem to be able to do with any of their projects.

Seems like Beatie actually understood star wars in writing the original scripts. Sad to see that they axed him for people who really didn't understand it at all

Wow. It almost feels worse to actually know that Disney had within their grasp a script that was so beyond competent. That honestly sounds like it could've been up there with some of the best Star Wars films, certainly better than anything Disney's produced thus far. The attention to detail in character and narrative, and actual logical development in those areas is unmatched in anything they've produced. "Did you ever hear the tragedy of the abandoned Kenobi script? I thought not. It's not a story the Disneys executives would tell you."

I guess you've already started with your excellent Vader series. I need your content in order to feel some sanity return in a time where everyone around me appears to be overtaken with delusion and lunacy. You really make a difference, and thank you once again.

I'd seen the original from Bulletsandblockbusters, but it was great to get your reactions and comments as you have a much better grasp of the stories (I haven't seen them all) and can better determine what would work. It was like having a good discussion on this with another fan (most people in my life are not). And I agree with everything you said relative to the Kenobi series.

The domino effect that that Disney trilogy had on SW has to be studied as one of the all time greatest tragedies in history. When SW Theory said he didn't want to listen anymore bc of how much it was pissing him off that Disney didn't go with this script.. I certainly felt that.

So unfortunate, and I watched this on the same day that George said this in Cannes: “I was the one who really knew what Star Wars was … who actually knew this world, because there’s a lot to it. The Force, for example, nobody understood the Force,” he said. “When they started other ones after I sold the company, a lot of the ideas that were in [the original] sort of got lost. But that’s the way it is. You give it up, you give it up.”

This script was absolutely incredible. This has made me sad.

I have a specific memory of Darth Maul being in the Obi-Wan trailer. Saw his mechanical legs trudging through the sand. Heard his voice taunting Obi. It was awesome. That's the version the parallel universe got. Talk about Mandela Effect.

Kenobi was the straw that broke the camel’s back with me. That one hurt. Waited 17 years for that. I’ve still given other projects a fair shake, but after that one I have NO trust in Disney with Star Wars. We’ll never get the Star Wars we want as long as DEI companies own the franchise.

All they had to do was say 'Yes.' They were even smartly hedging their bet - having the first film end on a satisfactory note in case it didn't do well commercially. All they had to say 'Yes' to one film, the audience would have shown up, there would be excitement about two more Kenobi films, and Star Wars would've been back.

That script was pretty amazing... it would have been exactly what us old-school Star Wars fans would have wanted to see! So, obviously, it was not an option for Disney.

This just hurts. Who looked at this and said “nah this wont work” but then proceeded to look at the shhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHIT!!! We got and said “HOLY LUCAS GET THIS IN THE WORKS NOW!” What is wrong with these people? Are they just careless or just completely tone deaf? Or just both??? They literally had a WINNER film, IN THERE HANDS! Written by someone who knows his stuff and seemed to actually care about making a good star wars project! Instead, we get Kenobi hiding Leia in a trench coat Reva who didn’t make any sense and was just completely boring to the point you just skip her scenes Shaky cam for almost all the fights. Have Vader and Kenobi fight in the worst set choice they could’ve chosen, whilst using shaky cam AGAIN Kenobi leaves Luke, the Chosen one, the most important person in the galaxy unprotected Cody is just gone, he isn’t mentioned, hinted at and is just not involved at all. Cody, Kenobi’s clone commander of the 212th battalion, the second most important legion, is nowhere to be seen 😐 Leia, who’s 10, outruns mercenaries, full grown adults, hired by a supposedly competent inquisitor, because she slides down and ducks under branches for which the mercenaries can ALSO see, but decide to run into them because ‘bad guy stupid!’ Reva survives not 1, but 2 LIGHTSABER GUT STABS from Darth Vader and just survives because sabers stabs no longer kill. You have to just slice them and THEN they’ll die… Reva wants to become grand inquisition because she wants to get close to DARTH VADER and KILL him?!?! ‘BuT ShE WaNts ToO AvEnGe HeR DeAD JeDi FrIeNdS!’ Reva herself has already killed Jedi at this point…and her reasoning is because she wants to avenge said Jedi? Oh and of course she suddenly feels guilty and is now all “oh my god, if i kill Luke, then I’m exactly like Vader when he killed my friends!” Didn’t have that conundrum when you killed all the other Jedi up until then? Okay then… Spy lady reignites the fire to save Obi-Won…literally moments after Vader extinguished the same flame with a force push…did he just, lag out when the fire was ignited again? ‘We WaNtEd A CoOl BaCk ShOt Of VaDeR In FrOnT Of ThE FiRe!’ Congratulations, you made a decent shot with Vader in it…as if there isn’t already cool shots of him 😐 An entire company of stormtroopers crammed up, shooting at rebel goons ‘with shaky cam again because of course’ missing 95% of their shots because, of course. Vader pulls down the first ship, RIPS the whole side off of it and then proceeds to just stair at the second ship fly off. Again, why does Vader suddenly forget he has the force? Quick fix for that scene. Vader has the second ship in a hold, but then all the sudden Reva throws her saber at Vader. Vader stumbles, ship flies off, Reva pulls the saber back in her hand and then rushes Vader and THEN Vader completely out-skills Reva. Boom, problem solved! Reva kidnapped Leia because she found a connection in the archives…so the ISB never bothered to check the archives then? None of the officers on Inquisitorios checked them? 10 years since order 66, and NO ONE decided to check for any possible connections that Obi Wan might have had in the Clone Wars? Okay then… “I wont help you! I know full well what the empires capable of because they killed my wife!……..okay you have my help”…i hate my life This has already been pointed out but screw it. Vader has the entire star destroyer chase down 1 person instead of getting on his own ship his TIE-Defender or a literally any of the other small ships aboard and have the star destroyer chase down the rebels? Okay then. Spy lady literally SMACKS a stormtrooper in the helmet and he basically goes “OH GOD WHY, AH I CAN’T SEE-oh wait thats normal-AGH!” Way to make them a threat…again… Purge troopers were put in, had black clone armour, custom helmets and were pretty badass looking. Could’ve had them step out with the inquisitors on Tatooine like how in Fallen order Trilla has a squad of them accompany her. And YET, what did they do in Kenobi? They ran through a hallway, walked onto the platform of the fortress and were killed in BOTH scenes they were…great use of costumes… Speaking of Fallen Order, you mean to tell me, Fortress Inquisitorios, the main base that was ALREADY broken into 5 years before in the SAME WAY CAL DID! And no one decided to implement more security? How about some dark troopers? Squads of Purge troopers (who are trained to FIGHT force sensitives) patrol the hallways regularly? Have those big tall imperial droids (i forgot what they’re called sorry) with at least 5 or 8 stormtroopers patrol the base? Do we get that? ANY OF THAT?! Nah there’s just a probe droid and like 2 stormtroopers walking about…brilliant. 1 shot from a blaster was enough to crack the glass 😑 you built your base…in the ocean…and your hallways have windows that…crack from 1 shot from a regular E-11? WHO BUILT THIS?!?! Reva seriously said to Kenobi “WhY DiDn’T yOu SaVe Us!?” He was literally in the midst of fighting Grevious and commanding the 212th on Utapau. The end of the Clone Wars was at hand, why would he even be on Corascant? (Definitely spelt that wrong) Kenobi’s saber BOUNCES OFF Stormtrooper armour…over 100 million dollars in budget, and they can’t edit the saber cutting off an arm or a head? I swear someone made a video of a re edit of that scene that had the sabers actually cutting there head and limbs off? Those are all the things I could think of in the moment. Sorry for rambling, but hearing the script just made me want to rant. If you’ve actually read this, I thank you for doing. Hey Theory, I thought you'd be interested to know that George Lucas really liked the *Kenobi* series. According to multiple sources, Lucas gave his full support for the series from the beginning and was pleased with how it honored his work from the prequel trilogy. Pablo Hidalgo from Lucasfilm mentioned that Lucas was "100% supportive" of the concept and considered it one of his favorite recent Star Wars projects. He appreciated how the series brought forward and celebrated elements from the prequels in a way that even surprised him.

This is now my head canon.

I haven’t watched anything Disney Star Wars post Force Awakens and Season 1 of Mandalorian, but this actually sounded like the makings of a very good Obi Wan story. The right blend of Legends lore while room for new canon. But of course, Disney had to F it up, which is why I gave on them long ago.

Hearing that *DAVE FILONI* turned down this script was a bigger plot twist than Darth Vader being Luke's father.

The more meaning and absolutely gorgeous scene in Obi Wan serie was that last confrontation against Darth Vader and I think that's why this serie have most of his value to me

One very cool thing that I noticed in the Obi Wan show. During the 2nd fight. When Obi Wan Cuts his mask open to reveal Anakin inside. His voice modulator starts to fail. Which fades between Anakin and Vader's voice. That was so well done. But towards the end when Vader says "I'm not your failure Obi Wan" a 3rd voice can be heard. It's palpatine's voice who says, "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did." So amazing. This is how they justify Obi Wan calling him Darth in the death star duel

The fact that they had a good script and gave us what they did is undeniable evidence that they themselves don't know Star Wars and never did. If you are gonna hire a guy and that guy gives you something good and you throw it away for your own ideas. I think not only are you a fool for paying that guy but a moron for thinking you can do better.

You are appreciated. It is clear why they keep making content that ignores the many great stories they could have used. Some things that can still be done (in addition to some of the leaked ideas you noted) 1. Obi Wan and QuaiGon Jinn Meditation / Training Segments 2. Cody and Obi Wan banter and adventures - Obi Wan helping the clones looking for purpose - they can come to him on Tatooine and he can help the Clone Underground without leaving Tatooine. 3. Obi Wan and Satine flashbacks as part of what Obi Wan has to deal with during his training with Quai Gon - They could make those flashbacks in animation - there is no law against mixing live action and animation. Let's get creative and make actual Star Wars not this horrible nonsense which is barely concealed activism.

This is why I hate when the producers get in the way of the creative’s vision.

I think Disney's mindset is that they want to appeal to a new generation of children/teenagers. They aren't interested in paying respects to George's legacy. For some reason they think there would be more money in making new fans of a whole other Star wars.. if they did their due diligence and picked writers who love star wars they could have accomplished both of these goals.
