It was so fun to see the gloss still on most of those books. Just amazing.

An untouched Owners collection like this is pretty rare, I dont see them that often. But they are out there and is something I se once every few years.

It was a fun day hanging out, chatting comics and sorting through a collection of beautiful comics.

Which issue was that? Are you talking about the original Golden Age 1st Black Canary? Would have been cool if that issue was there.

Try to figure out which book it is for me, I don't remember seeing a book that much in the piles but if there is one I want to make sure they know. Which series are you talking about? Honestly I dont remember any Black Canary covers at all.

@pop-comics I was wrong sadly was only an early hawkman 3rd box With simaler looking Dino which is what threw me

@@pop-comics Those are some darned good circles! I think I loved Kamandi so much because, well, I often wandered around the fields and vacant lots of my hometown as a kid, exploring abandoned houses, barns, junked cars, etc. It was the 70s, so a kid outside on his own wasn't unusual. I suppose I often imagined I was Kamandi (I even had hair that long). Great memories. Thanks for the fun video, as always.

Thank you, it was so much fun. If you can make it into Manhattan tomorrow the books will be for sale. Including all the great Batman books. Everything is priced to be a good deal, just not a steal.

Also there were a bunch of books that would have been highish grade but the foxing etc holding them back. I think there was a lot of books that you could work your magic with.

I gave them a standing offer if they dont sell so well in the shop I am happy to pay about 50% of the prices we came up with to buy them out but I think we all want to see what they can sell in the shop first so they can get the most out of the Donation. That being said I know if someone walks in and wants a few books they will negotiate on the prices.

The guy who donated the books was awesome because it was a lot of value donated to the shop, the book shop is awesome because it is a non profit and all the proceeds go to help programs at the library and my friend Spencer is awesome for introducing me to the shop, and Don was awesome for letting me price the books fairly so everyone gets a good deal, and he let me buy the ones I wanted for my PC for a good price. I think its a win win win for everyone involved.

Yes everything is for sale at the book store, I did buy a nice stack for myself. Mostly the oddball DC stuff, war books, and Archie Harvey books. All the Marvel, Batman and and bunch of the other books are for sale at a very fair price. The keys we priced at 75-90% of FMV, the rest 50-75% FMV so there are deals to be had there.

Yup, an amazing donation to the book store!

So the book store is a charity shop that gets donations and all the proceeds go to help programs at the library. It has a great volunteer staff that keeps the place open. Comics they normally put out for $1 so a collection like this was not something they normally deal in or were prepared to bag and board etc. So because of that my friend Spencer introduced me to Don who processes the donations and I volunteered to go and price out the collection and help them figure out what to do with them all etc. I was not expecting to buy anything, I just wanted to make a video to promote the collection and help them price it all out but they did let me buy the ones I needed for my PC for a fair price so I was really happy with that. I brought 100 bags and boards with me and traded for 2 $5 books to give to my friend Spencer, so basically a donation to the shop and a gift to Spencer for helping out. Not only did he introduce me to the shop but he too spent the full day 10am-4PM sorting and pricing with me. He appreciates the store and loves book stores in general so he wanted to see them be helped out as well. As for the remaining books, we stood them up in the box with a divider in the middle so they don't get too rummaged through as people look to buy from them. I am hoping most get into collectors hands this week so they don't get too damaged.

Yup I looked up everything except the dell and goldkeye box, I ran out of time. But that box I think I pulled the books of value and no one mentioned any I missed so I think that box is good. I only had 100 bags and boards though, so I had to decided the 100 I wanted to get protected. Everything else I sorted into a $10 box and a $5 box. The larger size books of value I cut a paper strip and wrote the price on the end of the strip and stuck it in the middle of the book with the price popping out. I also always assume people let me know what I missed in the video so I can let them know after the fact which I did with one book.

Its more they are a charity shop run on donations, they don't tend to deal in rare comics. That is why I brought them 100 bags and boards to at least get the top 100 comics protected, and the rest we stood up in the boxes so they would be easier to go through without damaging them and added a divider in the middle so they could be flipped through easier without snagging on each other. Sounds like a bunch have sold already so hopefully all the books get into collectors hands soon.

I had to double check, I was using the hip app and it listed it only as a $7 issue, so I will have to investigate it further. I thought I must have missed scanning it but I checked back and saw I had. Does look like it goes for more on ebay. Just means there might be some great deals on the books they have for sale at the shop. The Frankenstein I got for my friend Spencer.

I did not grab any of the key issues, I left all those for don to maximize sales. He sold a bunch of them on Tuesday to customers at the shop. I grabbed the oddball stuff for my pc like the Doom Patrol and Hawkman comics etc.

Yeah I always mix up 1st and second prowler. I did go back and price them both out, I think the Fantastic Four Annual #5 was priced in the $40-$50 range in VG condition.

@@RichSensale Yeah there was a lot going on between conversations and trying to sort through all the books. I ended up spending another 4-5 hours after the video scanning everything looking up pricing then figuring out prices that I thought would be win win for everyone and putting the approximate grades on the 100 best books. I ran out of time so I did have to guesstimate all the Dell and Goldkey were cheaper, but I might have missed something. Thinking back I was looking for the 100 best books to put into the bags and boards I brought with me I might have put that one to the side because I could not fit it into the bags etc.

I need to go back and try to snag that Superman book!

Yes the collection was donated to the Book Cellar. Which is the charity book shop under the Webster Library. All the proceeds go to support various programs at the library. NYC public library system is a real asset to the city.

What I showed on the video was to show every one what was in the collection with the purpose of people coming to the shop to buy the books. After filming I spent another 4-5 hours looking up and pricing up everything and pricing it fairly for everyone.

It did not fully register in my brain first pass, but we pulled it and priced it around $40-$50 in VG condition.
