He would buy the License to only PART of the footage of the Annual Super Sentai series and dub it alongside additional reshoots. The rebranded and repackaged product of Power Rangers did VERY well in the west. For several seasons instead of following the Japanese model of each series being a new team he made a long form contiguous story until eventually each team became an independent entity in later iterations. Some series were ENTIRELY different from their source material. Some, involved a ton of shot for shot remakes in their out of costume scenes. Cosmic Fury is the first to do their own thing entirely, only shooting ten episodes using entirely original suits and only borrowing the mecha/vehicles from the Kyuranger series...which is sad because that was a fun looking space show with tons of aliens and robots among the assorted members of that large heroic cast.

Also to clarify, power rangers is an adaptation of super sentai. The corresponding seasons use the same suits, mech/zord design, and transformation devices, but generally the stories and characters are very different compared to their sentai counterpart. It's worth checking out the sentai version of your fav seasons to see how they differ, as well as checking out some seasons that haven't been adapted!

Kamen Rider and Super Sentai shared the same continuity. They ocassionally collab, sometimes involving "dimension", indicating they're from seperate universe, but sometimes they just randomly bumped into each others out in the street, indicating fhat they're sharing the same universe. So it's been inconsistant. But that's not a problem, since some sentai literally have settings on different dimension than other sentai. The same goes for kamen rider.

"Is sentai connected to kamen rider?" Not explicitly, but they do have semi-frequent crossovers. The super hero taisen movies, super hero senki, and the upcoming rider summer movie that features Gotchard and Boonboomger, the current seasons of both shows. Shinkenger (The show that was adapted into PR Samurai) was also featured in a couple episodes of Kamen Rider Decade, since they were airing at the same time.

Power rangers is a adaption of the Super Sentai. All suits, mechs and toys (mostly all of them) came from Super sentai. They don't call them zords since they all different names.

Zyuranger, Dairanger and Kakuranger are what became the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series Season 1 was just basically taking Zyuranger action scenes and making up stories to tell with those action scenes and done pretty sloppily in the early episodes Season 2 took the Dairanger monsters, megazords and white ranger but kept the main 5 zyuranger suits and replaced the dairanger action fight scenes with new american scenes with zyuranger suits Season 3 took the Kakuranger monsters, megazords and Ninjor, plus a few of their main villains. Again shot new scenes with the zyuranger suits. The Kakuranger costumes made it into the show as the Alien Rangers after that they just went back to the season 1 method but with more consistent execution

So basically, back then visual effects weren’t really as great as compared to modern day, so for the Gorengers, Big One (the white suited member of JAKQ) and Kamen Riders 1-Skyrider they used cuts in the footage to convey a transformation (in the case of the Kamen Riders most of the time the main character would say their transformation trigger phrase while doing an elaborate action pose, then footage of the belt would be spliced in before cutting to the character in their costume)

Power Rangers and Super Sentai have had a genuinely beneficial relationship over the years. Hell, a number of Power Rangers seasons and all three Power Rangers movies have been released dubbed in Japan by Sentai's owners Toei. The Dekaranger/Magiranger movie included Power Rangers SPD's battalizer as a Power Up, the first and only time that a normally Power Rangers exclusive form was adapted into Super Sentai. Koichi Sakamoto, the Stunt Coordinator and a producer/director on so many Power Rangers seasons also worked behind the camera on Kamen Rider & Super Sentai seasons and movies. Terms like "Its Morphin Time" and 'Megazord" were used in Go-Busters Yoshi Sudarso (Blue Ranger in Dino Charge) got to briefly cameo as a civilian character in an episode of Ninninger. Power Rangers SPD was directly referenced in an episode of Akibaranger. And that's just a small bit of it.
