"Thank you for the video! It was incredibly helpful. I appreciate how you explained everything so clearly and provided various options. Your effort is truly appreciated."
This has to be one of the best 1st-hand reviews of anything, ever, on RU-vid. It was super informative, very well thought out, straightforward, concise, and practical. I was pretty sure I wanted one of these, but now I KNOW I do. Awesome job, man. Thank you for making this.
Years late but seconded. Outstanding, no-wasted-jibber-jabber review that covered everything thoroughly and succinctly. This is how to do a gear review!
Ultimately the video that sold me on the SOE micro rig. I purchased one recently and love it. Great video that clearly punches above its weight class and is still relevant.
Great video. Nice rig. I have found a product you may have heard of by MTM Case-Gard, they call it "Shell Stack". Basically, a plastic refillable ammo box that holds 25 standard 2 3/4" 12 ga rounds. Unlike a normal cardboard ammo box these are not weather impacted by rain, snow, dew, etc. The Shell Stacks that I purchased off Amazon came in a four pack, so I can have 100 rounds pre-loaded. Like you said on your video the utility pouch will hold a 25 round box, this would allow for 3 quick reloads of your vest. Cheers.
Best video out there on the SOE 12g micro rig. Helped me decide to order mine today. Like you, I shoot long guns left handed, pistols right handed. Thanks for the excellent info.
Great video brother. I’ve been using my for quail hunting for the past two seasons.. I load up the cards, full the pouch with a grip of snacks and carry the med kit on my soe hydro pouch connected by H harness. Absolutely , tuff ass life long gear I’m thinking.
Man, I've heard of this rig when it came out, but I'm liking it more and more now.. Love the fact that it can clip onto a plate carrier like the Haley Strategic D3CRX.. I also have a MOLLE compatible shell carrier from TAG which holds 22 shells.. If going shotgun heavy, that rig plus TAG carrier can probably carry 70 plus shells.. Way more than needed.. haha.. LOVE IT.. With a loaded shotgun, butt cuff and side saddle, you can probably carry 100 shells..!!
Now that was a kick ass review! I understand how brilliant it it. Great rig, perfect for what I have in mind. It would be great if you reviewed the 7.62 micro rig next!
Only thing that might not be perfectly placed for a true lefty is the extra pistol mag pouch on the side. Maybe you could use that for a knife or multi tool instead though and pack the extra mag in the admin panel. Anyways thanks for the kind words. Glad my vid helped you out.
/nice to see someone else who has the same unique shooting style as me. Really enjoyed your review. I was thinking of getting this rig or the cop rig. You sold me on this one.
BTW...If you want the exact same setup as i show here, make sure you specify the left hand rig when ordering or the utility pouch will be on the opposite side. Might take a little extra time to get it but Johns usually pretty good about getting orders out fast. Good luck man.
So I'm definitely buying one. I don't know if I heard you say or not , what color is that rig??? And how long does it normally take to be sent to you. AND BY THE WAY BEST AND MOST DETAILED REVIEW ...AWSOME
Nice rig man, I have SOEs AR/AK micro rig...unfortunately, it's in black. I hate black gear...but it was a prize, so I had no choice in it's color. So, for now, it's my Zombie Apocalypse rig. All the rest of my gear is Multicam ( mostly the Army's OCP camouflage). I like your setup there, very cool for running a shotty.
The only real advantage it seems that the cop rig has on this micro rig is that it has a third sleeve right on front, but it has overall less capacity.
Thanks man. Its a great piece of kit. I actually did look into attaching it to my Banshee but the hardware config on this micro rig doesn't match up to the standard carrier attachments. You'd pretty much have to cut the stock hardware off this rig and attach appropriate 1" ITW Nexus buckles to make it work. As of yet, I haven't had the heart to do any of that so for now they remain incompatible. That being said, you can always just adjust the straps out a bit and wear it over the top of your favorite carrier if armor is a necessity.
This right here goes perfect with the KSG. I have both and have used them together many many times. (Assuming you meant “for the ksg”) If you meant to write “or” as in one or the other, I’d start with the gun first and then grab a rig for it soon after! 😅
@@witkidone nah I'm a made in America kind of guy. I have an 870 for every day of the week an 835 for Sundays. I found an SOE in an auction I think I'll pursue.
oh yeah well right now I have a moss 500 and im looking to get a spngfld xd4. And I dont think I could afford an ar+the necessary things for it as is right now, but I wanted to prep what I can a little at a time and was just thinking of once I am able to get an ar how I would transform the micro rig or the cop rig into on that can support an ar primary vs a shotgun.
Oh yeah I got what the rig could do I was comparing the capacity of it compared to the cop rig, the cop rig can hold 6 shotgun cards, or 3 ars and 3 shotguns, the micro can hold 6 ars if you want or like 7 shotgun cards ( 2 in the pouch and one on the front?) and yeah the pistol mag option on the that is extra that can be attached. Thats another cool thing this has but other doesnt have. But yeah IM just trying to buy one rig that could primary both weapons (a shotgun or ar) the best, thats all. Btw how do those mags in the rear pouch feel, they stab too much? If its cool I might end up just totally copying your setup lol.
Oh okay, yeah I dont have my leatherman I think I have a crappy old coleman camp tool from scouts. But yeah I'll be sure to mirror your rig not copy verbatim. But I was looking at your rig and that velcro you had on the front of the pouch and I went to the website in the description and I couldnt find your exact rig since the front velcro was what I really wanted, amongst other things, and that pistol mag on the side where did you get that because I'll probably do the same. And yeah I'll let you know how it goes, I'll probably go with 00 buckshot and a few slugs, but until I get enough for my AR im stuck with my moss 500 and springfield xd4. BTW Im looking at the Bushmaster carbon 15, what do you think about that one?
Oh okay I'll grab one of those mags, but yeah I figured you were going to say that, yeah I'll just have to look a bit more for ARs, Im just trying to grab one before they try and outlaw them or something.
shaydeinsun You always pay a lot for hand crafted high quality gear and OSOE is top tier stuff so its to be expected. Mil grade materials and workmanship will always = $$$ but because of their bulletproof warranty youll only have to spend once for a lifetime of hard use. Well worth it IMHO.
Yea, it's just hard as a starving college kid to find an extra couple hundred dollars laying around lol. Are there any cheaper alternatives? I wish they made like a budget/economic version. So I could get the cheap one for now, then eventually upgrade to the nicer one.
shaydeinsun Haha. I feel you on the starving student bit as ive been there myself. If you buy one of the solid patterns like the one im showing here theyre only $140. If you dont have the money available at the moment just save up for a couple months and get it when you have enough. I will always recommend saving for quality over spending on junk youll have to replace many times along the way. I tried the budget alternatives when i first got into gear and i can tell you from experience its pointless. Youll end up with OSOE in the end anyways so might as well not waste the money on the junk while youre figuring that out. Good luck.
compared to the other stuff they make its cheap for how many parts and compartments it has considering some of their plane bags with just a strap and a zipper are almost half as much.
