at the end of the video you can see that nice smooth differential steering by a wheel like in a car. Tiger´s and Panther´s do not need to stop 1 track fully for steering anymore like PzIII or IV or T34 and Shermans
Nah it was never really successful only about 400 were made compared to about 4000 panthers and the panther was a Superb tank, Sloped armor of the T-34, gun as good as or better than the 88 on the tiger 1 and mobility of a T-34.
stinkiekiller declerck Wasnt actually that slow its a myth that all german tanks were slow as hell with some ironing out (the germans didnt have time to do so with the Tiger 2) it probably have been a very good tank.
For anyone not familiar with German Tactical markings. This tank #801 would represent the 8th Company HQ Tank. 8 is the Company, 0 is the Platoon number in this rare case would be the HQ, and 1 meaning the 1st vehicle. There most likely would have been the assistant as well, 802. Not sure where it was from, but the numbering system would support 52nd Pz.Abt of the 39th Pz. Regt. Kursk. as an example. If anyone knows?
The Panther in this video was assembled after the war by the British from spare parts (6 Panthers and Jagdpanthers were built this way) for testing and evaluation. In the 80's, the tank was given back to Germany and belongs to the Koblenz BWB collection. Could it be numbered for the company you mention? perhaps. But the paint scheme is very late war (more green than yellow), and mimics a late 44, early 45 tank.
FrancisJoa Right, so how come is it that with all the anti Zionist-Khazar Jew talk, it's the Russians that get slaughtered while the above mentioned Zionist-Khazar Jews get the profit? Think about that.
@@BigSmartArmed from comunism, unfortunatelly they didnt succeed, they were alone because of their own mistakes against the jews...if don't all western europe would have gone behind germany, and not only a few members of every country as they went.
@@parareflexionar1991 False. Hitlers propaganda stated that operation Barbarossa was against Marxist Bolsheviks, while at the time of the attack USSR was Stalinist Communist. By that time Stalin already conducted open trials, and was purging Marxists into gulags for sedition, treason, mass sabotage and attempted military coup.
@petrwarry72: Excellent question indeed. The later productions were already equiped with the Infrared installation kit, but sight and illuminator were not installed in series production. Only a few tests were performed at the end of the war. What you can see on this panther is a replica, which should look similar to the original part.
This tank sounds so much better than other German tanks on you tube from other museums around the world. Others sound bad in the motor & track department.
Beautiful sight to see a panther the best medium tank in ww11 well after its teething problems were sorted out but that what happens when you rush them into combat without doing proper test runs on them and there was never enough of them
Tom Beneens Please post a link that describes tank classification by caliber. Tanks are classified by their weight, becasue of logistics of transporting them to the front. Rail roads, train carts, bridges, etc.
they have only the searchlight and mounting on this Panther the reciver is on display in the museum... most likely in working conditions... this Panther was build after the war by german workers under british controll and fully equipped sent for testing to the UK... with complet IR set
Danke.
@gekko14 Its really because there are so few of them surviving, much less operating, Even with advanced armor, and the first assault rifle, Germany managed to lose the war to those afore mentioned uninteresting tanks. I guess instead of fancy, hi tech tanks, the allies thought having good tanks, and ten x more of them to win the war was more important. Besides, the Panther, and both Tigers were engineering nightmares. Not so the Allied tanks.
@gekko14 Research Walter J. Christie, and his fast tank. you'll find that his designs are the basis for most of the Soviet designs up to, and through WW II. I think you are not used to dealing with facts, and actual history. Better you think to espouse conjecture, and wishful thinking in their place. This behavior may impress the kids on facey space, but it falls very flat before the learned.
Well done but "schöne" is female. "Panzer" is male. So u have to use the male form of "schöne" which is "schöner". And watch out every noun begins with a capital letter so you have to write tank in German like this "Panzer".
definetley not a Panther G, as the gun mantlet is rounded, while the one on the G model turns into a flat piece at the Bottom. Must be either a Panther D or A.
Not just early ones. Some G models never were meant to receive the flatbottom mantlet. Some factories had to finish the production with the rounded mantlet before moving onto a different design, regardless of how "late" it was.
The "Josef Stalin" series and the M26 "Pershing" ewas heavy tanks and the Pz.KpfW. V "Panther" was a medium tank ... compare it with the American M4 "Sherman" or with the sovjet T-34 ... And just by the way, the 7,5cm KwK 42 L/70 of the Panther had the better penetration power than the 8,8cm KwK 36 L/56 from the Tiger I ... and dont forget how much dreaded the "eighty-eight" was ;)
Almost the equivalent of Leopard 2 of its era - German technical and engineering excellence given its context the minor faults in the design where understandable. Good video - is the instrument on the top of the machine gun mount a "vampire night sight"?
@hatakashi1900 The video was shot at the WTS (Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung which means collection of military specimen) in Koblenz, Germany. I'm not quite sure if it is there right now, it could also be in Trier at the WTD 41 (Test Center for military vehicles). Enjoy . I'm still working on further clips to upload.
+Aaron Mair (Razor) tigers were so unreliable. the best ww2 tank would probably be the T-34 as it was so easy to produce in mass numbers, and wasn't the worst tank on the battlefield.
Panther's front armor(110mm) was the only advantage against T34(45mm). T34 won by low cost of production, repairability, balanced features, and, of course the crews' courage, despite the great losses.
Love this tank. The turret of this tank is so unique and is has so many different camouflages. Have assembled this model tanks in different scales, 1:72, 1:100, 1:35, 1:25... since my childhood. C.Y., Hong Kong
@gekko14 Then go enjoy your overpriced, and under built, hugely expensive to maintain operate, and insure Mercs. (not that a car has aught to do with tanks, which is the topic of the clip) Back to armor, the best Tank the gernans had was the later mark of the PZKW IV. Had they built loads of those, they would have had better luck against the cheap to produce in massive quantities T-34. (the genisis of which was designed by an American.)
@gekko14 Far less so than your own, Mercedes is not that popular,(at least in the U.S.) and not faultless either. they have their problems, as do all autos. One thing that is in their favor is that Mercedes autos generally last far longer than the Panther, & either Tiger. The Panther was too heavy for its drive line, Tiger I had engine issues, and fuel delivery trouble . The Tiger II was generally a mess mechanically. Their only asset was the high velocity guns. In the end, none of it helped.
Excellent the Panther, maybe ? the Germans during WWII should had put more efforts into making more of this tank as well as up dates ! The Tiger 1 & 2 was excellent as well as most German tanks, trucks etc. GO ARMY
