Its incredible what the developers did with characters who only appeared once. Rubber Soul, Devo, Mariah and many others are fun to play and are faithful to their appereance and fighting styles. Midler specially, they made her into an actual character, Araki's design added with the gameplay and her theme just blew fresh air into her.

Rubber Soul is genuinely the laziest character in HFTF and doesn’t deserve the same praise as Devo and Mariah. In the manga, Rubber Soul has an entire fight where he shows that he doesn’t have to pretend to be Kakyoin to fight, and yet Capcom made him a Kakyoin clone. Capcom had made many creative decisions in HFTF, but Rubber Soul is not one of them (well, other than cutting corners)
