"Roses are red, violets are blue, I was beaten with clubs, beheaded, buried under the cover of darkness, disinterred by my followers, and you commemorate my martyrdom by sending each other chocolates."

I’ve seen a meme like this. While I think it’s comical, it always causes me to remember tell people that chocolate and poetry are exactly how I want people to commemorate me should I become a martyr. They may take our lives, but in Christ, they can never take our joy.

Hardest part of convincing your wife/gf to convert to Orthodoxy is convincing her to celebrate Valentine's Day in July.

I hate it when people call our holidays pagan. As if that's any sort of criticism! Are we celebrating pagan devils on that holiday or God? It's ridiculous. They think that anything pagan must be stamped out, when they don't even realize what's evil about paganism to begin with. It's the idolatry, the blood and human sacrifice, not the holidays! The holiday itself must be examined. Saturnalia, for example, is probably not a good one to bring back, because gambling was permitted during it, and there's the thing about masters and slaves switching roles (which wouldn't be possible, for obvious reasons). But there are others that are good and can be adopted and filled with God's grace easily. I say, if the devil can take and corrupt something, then we can take it back and make it godly!

Thank you. Just a little suggestion for future videos...there are times during the video when music overpowers your speech and from my point of you music is not necessary at all, as it can change the focus and on top of that it sounds too secular. Forgive me. All the best, in Christ.

I'm in my 40s and I think I've heard 7 million different origin stories of valentines day. It seems no one really knows anymore of why Valentines day is a thing.
@Patristix
@Patristix Год назад
We did the math concerning your 7 million different origin stories. Assuming you have in fact heard 7 million stories, each told as swiftly as ours and lasting roughly 9 minutes, then you have listened to origin stories of Valentines Day for approximately 119 years, 10 months, 11 days, 1 hour and 10 minutes. We would like to congratulate you on building a time machine to accomplish the above listening to stories in less than 40 years. We’re glad you found Patristix and finally heard the real origins of Valentines Day 🌹😁❤️

I see no reason why we can't celebrate the sacrement of marriage on Saint Valentine's day with the modern date of February 14th. The chief marriage we should celebrate is the marriage of Christ to his bride the Church.
