Great video comparison Don! Could you list the motor RPMs that are in each vehicle here? I'm having a hard time finding visual comparisons of the crawl speeds. Thanks!
First off awesome little rigs you got there! But little Unfare comparison beeing ever 1 has a different wheel base and types of bodys 😂 of course the longer wheel base 1s and hevier rigs do a little better on this test! Lets see a test on real off road terrains 😉 Looks like the jeep was faster then the rest to? The green raptor is a good example of how to slow can be bad you dont have the wheel speed to hop over the top of the ramps!
Cheers! :) Hmmm i think shorter wheelbase isnt a disadvantage... but to be fair, the custom rollcage on the jeep does add a lot of weight up high, thats why it rolled over all the time, really bad cog. In a real offroad situation the unimog and landcruiser would still perform better than the other two because they have a better cog due to the metal axles, custom chassis and overall optimization (unimog has a divorced setup with motor in front, under cab) while the f150 and jeep drivelines are both pure stock. The unimog does really good outside for its scale imo. The jeep has the fastest motor, 300rpm. the f150 has a 200rpm, the unimog a 150rpm and the landcruiser a 120rpm ;)
DonGargon i see true didnt notice the metal axles lol true rollcage dont help the jeep but looks sick af 😂 i run a long wheel base on my scx10 so it can climb steeper inclines myself 😊 even 1.1 wranglers flip backwards easy lol How do these handle mud and muck? My 1/24th ecx barrage dont like mud 😂
Great comparison and love the customs! Question, the red axle shells on the on the Landcruiser, will they work with the stock OH35a01 drive line components. I see them advertised at several sites, but they don't indicate which Orlandoo kit they are comptable with? I don't think the aluminum OH35P01axles you used ont the Unimog are compatible with Oh35a01. I would really like to get aluminum axles for the Jeep.
Thanks rowntrp. The red shells are similar to stock oh35p01axles. oh35p01 axle has 3mm output shaft so youll need 2to3 shafts to make it work with the oh35a01 t-case. well i have installed the red axle shells on the new adjustable upgrade chassis rails, they are essentially the same rails like oh35a01 and the rear axle hit the rails. Its not much, but without modification travel is slightly limited. Ive seeen people using the MA-550 upgrade axles (2mm output) on the jeep chassis and they seem to work good. they are just a tad wider. hope it helps...
Thanks DonGargon, I've been searching the Internet and forums and haven't found mods using the MA-550 axles on the jeep yet, will keep looking. Hopefully as time goes by, someone will come up with a direct replacement. The adjustable frame you mention is that the Xtra Speed orange frame I see at RC Mart? Anyhow, thanks for your help still waiting for electronics to arrive so I can finish my first micro 4x4.
Yes you can get that at rcMart. As far i know, theres no mod needed for the MA-550 Axles. But i can try tonite and let you know. Only thing needed maybe are different lenght links. The adjustable frame is for diffrent bodies. It doesnt work for the jeep without modding.
Just a question about the Unimog. What did you make the chassis from. Was looking to build a similar model. I was going to use the adjustable chassis if it would work. But for $30 bucks I feel I could probably make aluminum rails or braze a brass ladder frame for less that might work better. Thanks and truly love the look of your Mog.
