I am from Carmona married in Panjim. As children we would wait expectantly for the Novenas of St Sebastian as during the novenas each ward would have the Luminar from a small chapel in the ward to the Church in a procession with the lighted stars. We all the people from the ward would make the different stars, of different shapes and sizes. Thank you for this beautiful memory.
Beautiful traditional that celebrates faith and unity in the community. Please never let politicians sponsor the event. Keep them out of this beautiful tradition. Let them sponsor carnivals and sports, but not this. If they wish, they can participate in the procession and make their own stars and join in. But don't accept their patronage.
This Luminar tradition is celebrated in chinchinim in the month of January. Here in chinchinim not all the wards(vaddos) get a chance to celebrate this luminar. Every year the same ward's which were selected in the ancient times celebrate the luminar on the same day of every year. It is said that the people had to purchase the luminar , So some ward's which could arrange the money got it & 2 luminars were bought by Furtados and the Gold Smiths . In chinchinim we go to the church in the morning time to bring the statue of St Sebastián and then we keep it in the chapel full day , then in the evening around 6.00 pm people gather together for ladinah . After that we stand in line with lanterns ( known as lampiaum) & some hand-made stars then by singing hymns of St Sebastián & firing crackers & playing the traditional band we walk down with the statue of St Sebastián to the church and we keep it in the decorated chapel.( In front of the church we decorate a artificial chapel 💒with lights and keep it ready ).Once we reach near the church priest does the prayer and gives blessing to the people. After that snacks and drinks are served & people watch the beautiful fireworks ....

I have subscribed to your channel and hope to see many such videos in the future. Also, if more information about the date when it is held and who can participate or join in the festivities is mentioned, it will be helpful.

1 Peter 1:18-19 --knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Vows beautiful, all green 🌳🎋🏡🌲the more often we see the thing around us, the more they become visible for us, that is why we often taken for granted the beauty of this world. The flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds ⛅ even those we love 💘 thanks for sharing, never knew 👍👍
VOW. what a beautiful Heritage tradition. I did not know. Thank you for bringing this unknown tradition to our knowledge. Beautifully filmed video. Lulu is a great singer and her message was wonderful . It is these traditions that are the essence of our Goa. Hats off to you Rocky . The procession with stars looks paradisical. Loved the way they spoke of Hindus as brothers . Prajal Sakhardande.
Beautiful celebration of faith and unity, despite diversity. The beauty of India a land of contrast but held together by a common thread of respect for one’s culture regardless of your faith.
