Or they could stop building where the homes will inevitably be flooded? Why should the rest of the country pay the cost of keeping these folks at the beach?
I certainly understand people wanting to live where they desire. That being said; if you chose to live in an area like this; it is your responsibility to take the proper precautions to insure that you have the proper coverage in place for a potential total loss of your home. And if you want your home elevated; you assume the cost. If you cannot afford to have proper coverage; maybe one should consider dwelling elsewhere..
nay it's not the taxpayers problem... people have to take personal responsibility they chose to live next to the river knowing it could overflow and flood them they need to make other arrangements where they chose to live was their idea and they need to deal with it...
The state definitely needs to help fund a program that will raise these homes. Expecting taxpayers from all over the U.S. to pay for this is not being realistic. The County approved these homes back in the day so it should be the responsibility of the homeowner, County & state to address the flooding issues & find solutions.
Rubio and DeSantis voted against Federal Disaster relief for Hurricane Sandy victims. All Florida Republican Politicians voted against the relief bill for Ian. Why do Floridians keep voting for Republican Politicians who don’t back Government assistance, they are also against Social Security and Medicaid. Floridians shouldn’t question the Federal programs they should question their Republican Politicians.
Florida- Land of Science illiterates and climate change denialists- conflating science facts with conspiracy theories and insufferable republican rage grievance hysterics. You're absolutely right- the most depressing and delusional state in the union. Sadly. 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌬🌬🌬🌬🌊🌊🌊👥️️👥️️👥️️👥️️👥️️👥️️🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦 next on the menu : American Human Habitat Loss, Managed Retreat, Planetary Hospice.
First your house has to be up to code to elevate it and it may not sit on a proper foundation to elevate it. These folks living in 50 year old homes, well they will be losses, completely, there is no sound reason to raise them.
Floridians should take their own advice and pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. It was just a year ago they wanted to secede from the Union. DO IT
Not the problem of the fed. Own up to your decision. Perhaps, Florida needs a natural disasters tax so they can pay for their way of life. It makes zero sense building homes in high risk areas. Assume the liability and live with the consequences but don't burden the rest of the union.
