She is doing well. She is perking up now and starting to feel a bit more like her regular self. We are hopeful that we can bring her back to her puppies next week if all goes well.

I knew the puppies would be ok in your hands and those dedicated to making sure that they grow and thrive. I’m so very sad for Orca having to miss the opportunity of doing what she wants and needs. She’s battling 2 things health and morning loss. I pray she recovers quickly so there’s a chance she can be back with her babies which will help them all ❤🙏

We welcomed Orca home today. She is getting settled into her role of Mama again with a bit of confusion but we are happy to spend the day just sitting with her to ease her back into things again. Fingers crossed it all comes back to her and she kicks back into being the incredible Mom she usually is.

So glad that Orca is on the mend. If, she is able to return to the puppies will she start milk production again?

That's a great question. Maybe. She has a very plentiful milkbar and there is still some milk in it. If she can come back next week, milk may start up production again or it may just continue to ease off. Either way, I am very hopeful she will return and be able to Mommy her babies along.

I was wondering, Orca is grieving, as you say, but do the other mama dogs grieve after their puppies are adopted? I have never had a mama dog before. Thanks.

Oh no when Mamas have weaned their puppies at around week 6 they are more than happy to leave them. They don't have the same maternal attachment as we do. What Orca is experiencing is upset at "failing" to protect her puppies. In her mind, something happened to her puppies as opposed to her understanding that something is going on with her that is potentially dangerous to them. We hope that she will be able to come back and finish raising them next week.
