July 1, 2019, marks the 20th anniversary of the moving of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
Orrin Pilkey, James B. Duke Professor Emeritus of Geology at Duke University, reflects back on the controversy surrounding the decision, and how science helped convince the National Park Service that moving the lighthouse was the only way to ensure its survival.
