Easter is one of the most important holidays in Romania. Some might say it is even more important than Christmas! But do you know what our traditions are for this special day? Or what are the differences between Catholic Easter and Orthodox Easter?

The food looks delicious! I still haven’t been able to find anything on the internet that clarifies differences between Romanian Orthodox and other Orthodox churches 🆚 Catholic faith. Maybe you could clarify that if you have an understanding of the differences or resources that would help clarify the differences. Please keep the videos coming as I appreciate them greatly!

There aren't that many differences, but they are important. We don't recognize papal infallibility and supremacy - usually, each country has it's Patriarch and they are equal. Priests can marry and have families. Though divorce is frowned upon, it is accepted - you can get married again in the church after a divorce. Liturgies are longer and you usually have to stand, incense is used, most of the service is chants and the style is usually byzantine - the icons as well as the chants/music. I have to say, the incense, the stylized type of painting of the icons and the style of music make for a very mystical atmosphere :) Fasts are more severe - basically, it's vegan diet, though there are some days when you can eat fish, and others when you shouldn't eat at all. Speaking of Easter, the fast is 7 weeks, and in the first 5 days, you should have 2 meals, if I'm not mistaken - one on wednesday and another on friday. But not many people can be that strict. Those would be a few of the things I thought of, but there are actually quite a few videos on RU-vid about differences between the Orthodox and Catholic Church, if you are curious :)

Buna! Supermarketurile sunt pline de iepurasi de plus, iepuri de ciocolata Heidi, Milka. E mai degraba un simbol international decat romanesc.
