So happy I came home to Orthodoxy after many years as a Baptist. My father, a Baptist preacher, was appalled that I converted to the “great Eastern heresy”. I told him I would always honour him as my father, but that he spoke to me with no understanding that Orthodoxy is the Truth, and that he in fact was in error. I was chrismated January 8th, 1956; one day after Christmas. My father passed away on May 11th, 1969; i had not spoken to him since 1952. He left instruction that I was unwelcome at his funeral, which I thus did not attend. I hope he is in Heaven, I truly hope he found the Truth of Christ as I did.
@skmcee I am an old man of ninety-three who has outlived his wife (whom I lost to meningitis in 1997) and all seven children (The first two stillborn, the third a miscarriage, the fourth in the Gulf War in a bombing, the fifth choking to death on a chicken bone, the sixth to suicide due to drug use, and the seventh on his 29th birthday from a kidney infection) and now live alone in an empty apartment, but my faith in God is absolute, even with all my tragedies and one of my children in Hell. The African saints take their reverence ..I am Orthodox from Greece and in our churches we have many icons with black saints like great Antonios great Athanasios the Egyptian saint Minas saint Ekaterina ( very popular name in Greece) saint Onufrios saint Moses the Ethiopian and many many others..and that because the African brothers are Christians from the beginning . One of the twelve Apostles Simon the Canaanite has teach the Christianity in Africa . He proclaimed the Gospel of Christ in Mauritania and generally in Africa. Eventually he was martyred by death.

A few months ago, this video struck me so deep in my soul that I have started looking into orthodoxy and learning as much as I can about the original, ancient and undivided Church. I have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and I feel that this is His church. Please pray for me that I can become a catecumen soon. I really need prayer! I learned the Jesus prayer and that has been helping me so much! This Orthodox faith is so mind blowing to me! I have been getting so many ANSWERS HERE! May all who read this be continually blessed in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit! Amen.

Truly he has risen. The world needs to understand that the greatest news in the world is not anything That's been discovered; or any major breakthrough in the scientific or academic realm. Not anything of the arts or any remarkable feat. The greatest news that the world will ever know is " Christ has risen from the dead. He has conquered death with his.death thus making it possible for our very own salvation.

His chanting is so clear and deep like an angel's voice, i'm Catholic and moments like this make me want to become part of the great Orthodox family, It was the Aksum Kingdom - Ethiopia where Christianity was practiced long before it reached Europe.
