For malayalis, this film is not a ghost or revenge story... it is a deep psychological thriller which chronicles the complicated layers of the main heroine... her abandoned childhood reinforced by mythical lores of her grand mother, seeds of underlying fascination with legends even after growingup in city, her mental beakdown during high school and such things which are not at all mentioned in other films

@@IJustReactAndReview Actually Tamil Telugu Hindi Kannada all remakes this movie but still Manichithrathazhu is still top 10 movies of India all time with a maginficant rating 8.7/10 shobhana mam won national award were the most remake actress failed in the performance to the original one in Kerala movie run over one year breaking all box office records till 1992 and in 1993 manichithrathazhu was an industrial hit og 1993 cult classic psychological thriller whuch marked a benchmark epic movie of all time they remaked in 2005 in Tamil as chandramukhi🤣🤣(see the year difference why the heck they remaked without any rights as an massala commercial entertainer🤣🤣🤣) all people are blaming Bollywood as copywood then what about Tamil cinema no difference between them and Bollywood Even iam from Karnataka our lot of Kannada movies also remakes from malayalam but tamil remakes are huge in net I see that around 65+ movies are copied from malayalam to Bollywood and 110+ movies are copied from malayalam to Tamil industry O oh god even 50+ our Kannada movies also copied from malayalam then I understand that we south have no right to call Bollywood copy wood because we south itself copying movies from south other industries🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We need just this movie to remember Shobana for a lifetime. Malayalis can't be bought by supernatural fantasy like Chandramukhi/BhoolBhulaya. This is a pure psychological thriller from the powerhouse of some brilliant artists and technicians. The so-called re-makes are infinitely removed from the real and authentic Manichitrathazh. This is classic movie. Majority of other Indian languages remade this movie by adding masala to this one. Yet, none can beat this one. I watch this movie each and every time, whenever this movie is being broadcast in TV. I was afraid to go alone after watching this movie each time in my childhood. Anyway you know the story of this movie. But still this one is worth for a watch. 👍

People around the world only watch bollywood from India mostly people don't even know that Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a remake of Malayalam movie. Tbh eventually Bhool Bhulaiyaa is even more popular than Manichitrathazhu and you are telling me that Kannada version was most successful? lol Why would they make remake of Kannada version lol it was remake itself. In the og version there's no ghost and BS, the movie is a psychological thriller where the he heroine is suffering from multiple personality disorder. Shobhana ma'am had done and amazing job portraying the a normal women who does not know dance but going through a psychological episode to and mental trip she's having where she's the real dancer who died centuries ago in an epics she heard.

It's a mystery horror comedy thriller. Shobana herself choreographed the song and she also won the national award for best actress that year for this performance . The movie also won award for It's sound effects. The movie had 4 great assistant directors as well, viz. Priyadarshan, Sibi Malayil and Siddhique Lal. The re-recording by Johnson is a class apart.

Wow ! One of the best commercial classics of Indian cinema, we can call it. Everything was so perfect in this movie. And an iconic song, etched in memory of everybody who sees it. Lyrics, Music, the every enchanting voice of Yesudas and Chitra and so matching and perfect was Shobana and the entire choreography. She added life to the song with her big eyes, expression of every emotions and the dance steps. One of the great artistes that Malayalam or for that matter Indian cinema can see. This is the depth of art and talent every heroine needs. But the complete experience of the song can be known only if one sees the movie. Just ultimate. And wow, what a performance of Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent. Such a perfect casting. Can casting be anything better, No! Absolutely No, even the Kannada actor who is the co dancer with Shobana. Movie goers cannot miss it.

My favourite actress and classical dancer Padma shri SHOBHANA. A Finest classical dancer, if i see a classical dance of her, i cant even blink. From my childhood she is my favourite.
