This engine was given to me for a service. The bearings were the obvious parts that needed replacing.
The engine disassembled fairly easily and there was some damage present that showed that the engine was worked on. I removed the valves for the intake was leaking. After cleaning the engine was assembled with new bearings and o-rings, and I had to make some gaskets.
With the first run, the pressure regulator was leaking. Sealing with gasket maker did not work and adding an extra backplate made from Aluminum solved the problem.
Then I noticed the pump is now leaking.
I removed everything, made a gasket, and modified the backplate I made to allow fuel to pass through.
I screwed a nipple into the muffler and she started right up.
For Me, the engine runs much better like this, and even tunes much easier.
There are no replacement parts available for the pump system anymore.
The engine has very good compression, it idles beautifully and to fly it will be the final test.
