Looks like it's in great shape despite the bearings being bad. I wonder if that greenish film is from Morgan's Cool Power fuel.

If you have a hard time removing the bearing from the crank case, try heating it up and tapping it down on a piece of soft wood. It might come out easily. Can't wait to compare the sound and performance of this engine to a single crank pin style engine.

I have been doing that and it will not budge. I do not think the small bearing has enough mass to make that an effective form of removal. With a heavier bearing such a a rear crankcase bearing that method works well and I use it all the time, but this one is too small for that. I already have videos of boxer style and single pin crank twin engines on my channel. Single pin engines: Saito FA-80T, 90T and 100T. Boxer style OS FT-300, OS FT-120 II, and the ASP FT-160.

What you can also do us to put some soft soap where the camshaft goes and tap it gently with a wooden dowel with a snug fit. the pressure will lift the bearing from the case. this guy does it with bread. I much prefer the soap: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-00OlG5E8vLk.html

I actually did Mike's suggestion again for about the 5th time. The bearing is out now. Now to wait for the new bearings!!!!

Thanks for reminding me of this method. I recall seeing a video similar to this using wet paper towel pieces instead of bread or soap. I haven't had the opportunity to try it out. Unfortunately I forgot about it.

Hey nice video what are you using to get out the rust from the engines ?

I think if you notice there are marks on the connecting rod caps make sure they go back together the way they came off, I think you had the first one reversed.

I just picked one of these up in really good shape! I'm curious does anyone know where to get parts for this engine? Did a google search and found nothing.
@millerrc5829
@millerrc5829 2 года назад
This is an old engine that os no longer makes so spare parts are going to be hard to find.
@funfreq9282
@funfreq9282 2 года назад
@@millerrc5829 Yup I found that out. I sold it off to someone that needed it for parts Ha!. I wound up buying a OS 1.60 to put in a Goldberg Cub!

@@funfreq9282 cool I've got the ft 300 that will only be bench run because of the hard to find parts i would do the same and use the 160 for flying because they still make it. And I would assume most parts are still available.

@@millerrc5829 Yup twofold reason I went that direction! It a tight fit on the plane and you can still get parts!

For RC use, I tend to like MIP Thorp hex drivers. I believe they're stainless steel. The quality is great and they run about 10 bucks or so on ebay. I've never stripped a bolt using one.

They are worth the money though if you do a lot of wrenching as i do. They are extremely well built! Mips are decent comepare to the os tools.
