OS FT 300 Super Gemini First Run 

For those that didn't see all of the comments or watch the entire first video, I did not disassemble this engine to verify the type of connecting rods in it. There is just too much evidence that this engine does not have the original aluminum alloy rods that were prone to failure. One such piece of evidence is this review article from 1987 when it clearly states that the engine has dropped forged bronze connecting rods. sceptreflight.com/Model%20Engine%20Tests/OS%20Gemini%20FT-300.html The complete and utter lack of any internet posts, forum threads, etc. discussing connecting rod failures on this engine is just another piece of evidence. The ONE video by Brian Winch that alerted people to this is, in my opinion, actually referring to perhaps the early versions of the FT-240. The FT-240 came out before the 300 and OS would clearly have remedied any such issues by the time the 300 was in mass production. With that said, the owner of this engine has authorized me to just do break in runs on it and NOT disassemble it.

David, the temp difference could be due to the airflow from prop wash due to the direction of prop rotation and where you take the temp. measurements. The air off the prop comes downward at an angle on top of the right cylinder and upward at an angle onto the bottom of the left cylinder. The heads and cylinders can run cooler on their upstream sides and hotter on the downstream side.

Nice that you did not have to tear this down after all.It sure was sounding sweet towards the end,now I am interested in seeing on your final tank of fuel,the difference in temps on the cylinders!

Don't know if you may agree, but that cylinder closer to the camera "was looking like if it was moving! perhaps checking those crank case bolts to the Cylinder would be a wise idea!!

Hello, for the temperatures it is in Celsius? If so, it is not normal to reach 150 degrees. It's way too much. There is a problem somewhere. On my Ft300 and FF300, the cylinders never exceed 110°. Where is the problem?

With these temperatures in Celsius, you will damage your engine. Its lifespan will be short. Probably a problem with your fuel. Mine NEVER exceeds 115°c at most. And it has more than 300 flights.
