My god this is precisely what I’ve been looking for. Many months ago, I was given a short osage stave by an elderly man at the range. First and last time I ever saw him- I think he may have been a ghost. Either way, he was a ghost with an osage stave! Issue is, I have a draw of 30in and the stave is only 62in long, so a reflex deflex is in order. Thanks for the precedent, and documenting it so thoroughly.

Great result mate...love your bending-on-side-of-the-table-action...but your wife seems pretty relaxed...she seems to know that bowbuilding needs sacrifices...lol

Ha! My wife just got me to haul off this antique oak table she didnt have room for. Looks exactly like that one. Now I see a purpose for it! The legs and everything is same us yours. Hope you put yours back before the misses comes back home! Very nice bow. Got to try it! One thing I noticed about the wood is the older, stiffer, and dryer it is the harder it is to make the bend. I had an Osage stave that was about 8 yrs old and impossible to bend with hot dry air. I had to use the steam pot method the get it to even make a slight recurve on the tip. For the wider sections hot dry air worked but the smaller tips would break . The newer cut stuff is now like bending noodles. The hot air took out the twists on old wood but not the recurve tips .

Nice video, I had one made a couple of months ago and had a recurve put into the Osage it’s a beast at 54# and like this one it throws the arrows out and does not take prisoners

Damn good looking bow, with the reflex/deflex bet it shoots pretty quick, I have a 72" longbow, hickory/bamboo backed, it draws 50#'s @28", but I dropped down in poundage to 40#'s @28, just can't draw the old bow back like I used to, lol, but archery is my exercise, n,one of my best sports, love shooting traditional archery, been shooting for about 50 or more years ,just can't quit, lol, shakyjake out.

precise craftsmanship, Incredible work!! Did you tiller the entire bow by hand without using a board and pulley etc.??
@provisionlongbows8881
@provisionlongbows8881 9 месяцев назад
Thanks so much. I tiller by hand and eye.I do not use pulleys or boards anymore. I have not used them in well over a year now. I do use a board to help my students see how it’s bending when they take a class. But other then that I have made 8 bows now without a pulley or board. And they have been my best performing bows yet.

Beautiful bow. Did the bending process take the twist out of the limbs?

@@provisionlongbows8881Subbed! I'm just getting into bow building so this is great for me to see. Beautiful bow, similar design to my Toelke. If you had a 25.5" draw, how short could you have made it? Get any wild game so far with it?
@provisionlongbows8881
@provisionlongbows8881 9 месяцев назад
@@JulienKozak personally I would preferred a 62” bow pulling 25.5” in this design.
