Another splendid video.

Nice to see another OSCar video. The reset/start up CPU interrupt routine on this synth is the worst. It's such a bad design. The timing is so precise, even a slight intolerance will stop it from booting. Mine only starts once out of 15 times, and usually the RAM is scrambled and needs to be sysexed back. I have done everything (new battery, connectors, sockets etc etc) to get this sorted, with little success.

I've found out that it's easier to put the front panel on first, and add the top metal bar after. I've made a series of videos on my nightmare repair on my channel, and I'll remake the first one on how to take it apart and add how to put it together as well at some time in the future, maybe this summer.

Thanks for the video! Some questions: 1. why did you replace the backup battery with another of the same kind? Wouldn't it be better to avoid that kind of battery, as they might leak on the PCB in the future? Why not adding a separate battery holder for AA type batteries (as shown in some other videos as well)? 2. any idea on how to remove an audible hum present in the audio path? I've seen some suggestions about adding a capacitor between ground and 0V-ground... any help on this? Does *your* OSCar have this ground hum? Thanks!

The firmware doesn't reset RAM properly at boot. If RAM happens to come up with certain bits set or cleared after a battery change, the CPU can get locked up.
