What I think the 10 would be: Bullets over Broadway Ed Wood Forrest Gump Four Weddings and a Funeral The Lion King The Madness of King George Pulp Fiction Quiz Show The Shawshank Redemption Three Colours: Red

Cynics: Well, no one likes Tom Hanks SO much that they can watch him talking to-I dunno-a VOLLEYBALL for hours. Tom Hanks: Hold my non-alcoholic beer.

I definitely think Three Colors: Red would’ve gotten in with a field of 10. I personally would’ve had it in the five.

Agree that the Letterman gig was nowhere as bad as critics, the room or he thought/think, and the cab driver bit remains hysterical. Love everything youse twose does, but these Oscar playbacks are in a class of their own -- your takes on the red carpet arrival opening announcements are priceless., and your additional/alternate nomination choices are so savvy. More, please, thank you.

What the heck, here are my picks, which include non-nominees, and then some two cents on Forrest Gump: Picture: Shawshank Redemption Director: Tarantino, Pulp Fiction Actress: Irene Jacob, ‘Three Colors: Red’ (not nominated) Actor: Morgan Freeman, Shawshank Sup. Actor: Martin Landau, Ed Wood Sup. Actress: Kirsten Dunst, Interview with the Vampire (not nominated) Great discussion-will miss these until June! :) I think I’d award ‘Forrest Gump’ *maybe* only 2 Oscars. The one I’d definitely give is visual effects. Siskel gives a great case with some behind-the-scenes footage in that year’s “If We Picked the Winners” episode of Siskel and Ebert for ‘FG’s’ visual effects (including some impressive, I think, effects during the ping pong scenes). Tom Hanks would be the other possible choice for me for a ‘FG’ win-his scene alone of asking Jinny *just with his eyes and hesitation* if he can go sit down with his son wrecks me. However, I’d ultimately vote for Morgan Freeman for best actor for ‘Shawshank Redemption’.

I cannot speak for the legendary ‘Hoop Dreams’ as I’ve not yet seen it

I wish Wong Kar-Wai could’ve been recognized for his mid to late 90s films

For what it's worth, I really liked Blue Sky and you should check it out, because Lange is giving "I'm heeeerrre for my Lead Oscarrrrrr, peoplllllle!!!" Lol. Joke aside, she's actually great and, I don't begrudge her winning a Lead Oscar. There are worse films, and there are far worse Lead Actress winners. And for me, while I DID like Sarandon in The Client, her time would come the following year, anyway.
