My first Nolan film was Insomnia but I didn't really get it until The Dark Knight. It's hard to see a man who continually works with 9 figure budgets as a pure auteur, but as filmmakers go, I don't believe there is anyone in the industry as dedicated to scripting and shaping the narrative as he is. An apex filmmaker at his creative apex. My favorite director of all time.
