I just recently found your channel and I enjoy how you present info. You touch on things that other people may not be talking about and I love that. I have used a scope on and off for about 10 years. Just recently started back in it heavily. I appreciate what you are doing!
Thank you Scott. This is a new adventure for me personally. I'm trying to keep the channel about diagnostics especially with a scope. I focus on subject matter that I questioned and couldn't find answers to. Thanks for noticing and hope you enjoy the channel!
Very good information Carter! I use the pulser sensor to see what cylinder is misfiring mostly in old cars. Even in new cars is useful. I had one that the misfire counts were in cylinder 1 and pulse sensor shows 4. Really good tool and I want to learn more because in other countries they know a lot about this tool! Brazil for example! but I only see videos in 4 cylinders and old cars! Thank you for sharing Carter.
Great explanation and very thorough. I had questions pop up throughout the video and sure enough, you touched on them later on. Thank you sir and keep it up!
@@CartersDiagnostics this video was right on time for me. I’m chasing down a cold start misfire on my FB20B Subaru. It’s been a real nuisance because of how intermittent. I’ve done a compression test and a block test with fluid to rule out a leaking head gasket. At this point I feel narrowing down the cylinder with a pulse sensor is the move since the computer just throws a P0300. I’m a bit more limited since I’m using a cheaper scope the Pico 2204a. It gets the job done though. I’ve recently started learning more in depth diagnostics as I’ve found many shops around me are either the same price as learning and buying the tools or just throw parts at the car. Maybe I’ll upgrade to a better scope at some point. Anyway there’s my small rant on a Saturday. I’m excited to watch more of your channel. It’s a gem!
Loving it Mr Carter. question, when checking the intake and crankcase. Do i have to read from the right if i sync from number 1 cylinder? Will try the rag in the exhaust and compare the difference in the waveform
A crankcase pulse should line up close to TDC (ignition sync), if the leakage is past the rings. So looking at the 360 mark, to the left should be the ignition sync 's exhaust pulse if in the tailpipe. To the right should should be the ignition sync 's intake when looking at intake pulses.
@@CartersDiagnostics I want to build a piezo sensor to see if I can see the pressure waves of the exhaust and inlet. I have tried to use a solenoid coil from a relay to pick up secondary ignition for the first time this week using a tektronix lab oscilloscope: could not recognize the proper wave forms
