Air quotes "more musical" LOL. Thanks for the review. Thanks for explaining the passive radiator approach. Thanks for explaining the rubber feet and decoupling effect. Way to explain SPL and decibels and how it relates to extension. This was a very informative video about how subwoofers work. 20hz and 103 decibels is decent for a 12 inch.
OSD FS12 Dual Ported 12" is Only $299. 600 Watts RMS hits 18 HZ and is heavy 60 pounds. Looking for Reviews on RU-vid i don't think there are any at all.
They should add more weight to the passive radiator cones. It'll lower the peaks and increase the lower frequency response. That's the beauty with passive radiators.
Hey Joe! Great looking sub, great size for my smaller room. Like passive radiators, no port noise. I really like the price tag! Great presentation Joe. Have a great day!
You still get the 20 HZ without the DSP Adjustment, DSP just removing the higher frequency range on the graph. Well for my newer 2nd Generation has DSP and Built-In Texas Instrument Digital Filter EQ, it says, "flattens the bass down to 18HZ". Most movies 20-25 HZ is just a few minutes of the movie.
Seems like this is more intended to rock/pop music. Where a sealed sub sounds better and the main frequencies dont go that low. Ill bet this would sound great and very loud on music like "Eric Lapointe : 1-900-xxx". But i would not buy this for my home theatre where it often goes way below 40hz.
I just bought this Trevoce triple 12s for $285+Tax, Outdoor Speaker website. Got 5% promo code discount. I don't know why it's so Cheap when Definitive Technology Descend DN12 is $1,200. Probably the Box and Amplifier is different. Happy with paying $307 Out the Door, so I won't expect it to be HSU or REL quality. If it lasts 3 years I'm Happy.
It's 43 Pounds while the Definitive Technology DN12 is 65 Pounds. Amplifier not as powerful too. I have to set it up to my Onkyo TX696 next week, both are still brand new not connected them.
I understand what you're saying, but that frequency response as is would make it difficult to blend smoothly with the main speakers without DSP correction. Also, the problem with such a peaky response is, when I tested it on my home theater AVR, Audyssey assumed that it was in-capable of playing frequencies lower than 35hz and set it's corrections accordingly.
@@joentell Totally true - blending isn't possible. But your average person turns the sub up until they hear it humming along with the music. For that kind of person, this 50hz peak sounds awesome and punchy. Not for me but it is for some.
@@gokulbhushan I have not tested the Trevoce 10 yet. I would guess they would be similar with lower SPL levels. If you get two, it might be worth it. They have a crazy deal on those too! $299 with the code!
One thing I can't stand in common speaker reviews this days is the word "prefect" - NOTHING's perfect. It's dismissive to what could never be achieved in the first place.
$700 to $399....was.way overpriced to begin with. Better off getting a RSL speedwoofer....350 watts rms. A true 20hz sub. Rsl has a die cast basket.. Osd is stamped....then they dont even tell you the rms watt rating.
Hey Joe! I asked you about a month ago about Kanto YU4's. I bought them, but I upgraded for TUK's. What would you suggest for a woofer for Tuk's? Thank you
Yo joe que pasa tio? Is it possible to rock the wharfedale denton 85 on a desktop setup? And could you please get your hands on the wharfedale evo 4.2, and then to a side by side that would be dope. Thx love your channel bro
Hey Joe, great review! I have this sub and want to make the DSP adjustments you mention [running an Denon AVR and Audyssey on that] ... I'm a total amateur here, what are my next steps for using the Dayton DSP to make the adjustments you mentioned? THANKS!
Joe, are the 15 inch ones just about the same or is their much difference. After watching you video I did use the code and I bought one of these, just looking for any info with the DSP, still haven't figured out getting the freq responce better using the app.
I just finished setting up the OSD Trevoce 12's it's hitting very good with both LFE and Dual RCA, I just unplugged the Dual Red/White to use LFE. Anyways, there's no need for DSP adjustments it has a new Texas Instrument EQ Digital Filter to "Flatten the bass response down to 18HZ". But if you turn off LFE on Receiver crossover and put the Sub to 60 HZ then use Dual RCA on the Trevoce and put the frequency know about the same 50-60 HZ I heard that is going to sound awesome Matching the Amp to the Sub. My Onkyo has both Crossover adjustments- LFE and Subwoofer.
I sort of wish i bought the 15" Trevoce it was $499 but i paid $299 or $285 after the 5% Promo Code. The 15" box is 98 pounds compared to the 12" box 45 pounds. You definitely get Deeper Lower bass with 15". But it's also do you have next door neighbors that are cool or won't complain. That's why I'm happy with the 12s I can bump it hard while the 15s would rattle the neighbor's home and they will start saying stuff.
Right now it's $549 for the Starke SW15, sealed 15" box with XLR input too. Sale ends today and there's a 5% Promo Code so it's like $520 range. But have to pay $45 shipping and Tax. OSD was Free Shipping took 2 days via UPS. Prices are always changing every few months, sales and mark-ups. I'm not buying anything for 2 years then SVS SB2000 or HSU sealed 15" both are $980 range.
