That is one cool cat pilot! He was awesome- very confident. Easy to listen to and not a drop of arrogance in his voice. Clearly loves his job and loves sharing his passion!

the pilot of that chopper had that "pilot smile" going the entire time. Everytime he would stop speaking he would look into the camera and smile xD

Love this! I was Oshkosh ATC for 21 years in support of AirVenture... Glad to hear the pilot was so familiar with the VFR arrival procedures! I was responsible for creating and initiating the 1/2 mile in-trail VFR arrival procedures into OSH beginning in 2002... Working the Fisk VFR arrival facility as a Supervisor for the last 10 years of my OSH career in an attempt to provide "consistency" between the various crews of four that rotate through the facility each day/year... Glad you enjoyed your visit... I've been attending OSH since 1973 as an EAA member then 1990-2012 as an ATC controller in support of the operation. OSH is a special place! I truly enjoy your VLOG... If you ever want to know more about the OSH arrival procedure... Don't hesitate to ask!

Hi Steve from France. Forgot to congratulate you . Your video was particularly interesting, as it showed us the helicopter world. I remember that one day , when I was 25 years old, spending time On a little field very close to Versailles , Saint cyrs, watching a heli hoovering.the pilot was passing by at 5' or 10'.he noticed me .landed his alouette 2 , and asked me if I wanted to come along with him.i could not believe my luck.that was an amazing experience I will never forget.he then gave me controle of it at 1500' ( I had at the time 100 hours On C150 and C172RG) Well guess what............. 😬🙄........I could not manage to fly straight and levelled.i could not believe how hard it was. Your coast guard pilot looked very knowledgeable about the local area , and his procedures. Thanks for the gift. Fly safe.

SteveO, you and that crew did the Coast Guard a real service and some amazing camera work! It's an incredible job they do. I have heard from Navy rotorheads that Coast Guard pilots are the best pilots even by their standards. I also know a few folks who own yachts that carry helicopters and all they want are former Coast Guard pilots to land on their boats, even the insurance companies demand they be. The Commander did a great job talking thru everything, he makes a great instructor. Does he wants to start a flying RU-vid channel? I also like the C-130 crew with thier chairs getting a great look over the whole site.

Excellent video again as always Steve. I have the highest respect for the Coast Guard guys, for the service they provide to mariners in need. I worked the Coast Guard 3rd District on Governors Island for several years, and totally enjoyed when I had to board the 378' cutters Dallas (WHEC716), and Gallatin (WHEC721). I still have the t-shirt the guys on the Gallatin gave me.

As a US Navy Photographer I rode in the US Coast Guard's H-52 (and several other military helicopters) many times. It was a lot bigger, noisier, than the Dolphin and reeked of exhaust fumes. I wouldn't trade those times for the world. Thanks for the memories.

I did not expect this at all. Well Done !!! I've been waiting for your Oshkosh video for the usual booth to booth tours everybody gives and maybe a little chat with the TBM and Caravan reps. We can see those later. This was fantastic. Wonder why they make the stick in the MH-65 so sensitive. Since our Coast Guard flies rescue in the worst of the worst weather you would think they would give them a little more room to play with. And thanks for explaining how a helicopter flies sideways, I've always wondered how they do that, very cool!
