Ok first off the composition; the music itself …… I was stunned. The Beauty knocked me back… transfixed I barely moved the entire performance. I don’t know how many times I had to remember to breathe I was so caught up I was unconsciously holding my breath hanging on every phrase Then the musicians…. What a lovingly rendered performance. Everyone of you touched the soul of this piece. Then the visual direction! how was this captured on film so lovingly inside of a LIVE PERFORMANCE … How? There’s no way to underestimate how the director brought this alive for the viewer. How was it edited this perfectly and uploaded within a couple of days. This is wizardry of the first order. Every serious piece of music needs to be filmed this lovingly. This was absolutely an incredible accomplishment from the composer to the musicians to the sound engineers to the visual Director. What a stunning gift to the world. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏

Don’t expect it all to be like this piece. I studied with Julius at SUNY Buffalo in the ‘70s and participated in a lot of his performances. His music was often pretty raucous and in your face.

@@ralphjones6872 From the brief introduction, I expected that. I still liked most of it.

Is there a recording of this fantastic piece?

@@AndyHayter there is! I highly recommend the 1974 recording of it by the SEM Ensemble featuring Eastman himself on piano. It was released on the small Finnish label frozen reeds a couple years ago

Timid, listless performance of what should be a rapturous piece. Check out the much more stirring iteration by Wild Up.
