And he also gave 5000 kg gold to Indian army during 1967 Indo Sino incident. And no, many princely states like Kashmir, Travancore all wanted to be independent. Kashmir also tried to join Pakistan. India wanted a unified country and obviously an independent country in middle of the country is going to be bad for stability, so both actions are fine. As they wanted to gain control over whole Indian subcontinent and at that time, apart from Mughal, Indian subcontinent was divided into many small local Empires, and they need to lick boots of local kings to defeat the bigger king. 2.
