OSPF is a routing protocol.
It is Standard Protocol.
It is designed as an interior gateway protocol
It is link state protocol
It uses a link state routing algorithm
Administrative distance is 110
It is classless routing protocol
Supports Authentication
Send Hello Packet every 10 seconds
Send only updates and not the entire routing tables.
Updates are sent with multicast address 224.0.0.5
It uses path cost as its basic routing metric (Ie. metric is cost)
It supports the CIDR addressing model

R#network Network Id wildcard mask area 0
R# network Network Id wildcard mask area 0
OSPF Example:
R1#Route Ospf 1
R1#network 200.1.1.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
R1#network 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 area 0

Can a router have 2 different routing protocols enable & functioning at the same time; for instance OSPF & BGP???

Hi, Yes you can run multiple routing protocol to reach the same destination . But the path learned via routing protocol with lowest metric/Administrative distance(AD) will be considered as the best path. Thanks
