@@orthopaedics360 I know you aren't my doctor , but can I at least ask a question. This is a very important question, and it's only information. My question is , If a person has Trendelenburg Gait ( waddle side to side ) can that causes the waddle walking side to side or is my knees ( bone on bone ) causing it ??? Will a person be able to walk normal again ? Thank you , Debbie I need 2 knee replacements and I might need a hip replacement ?

@@debbiec6216 a trendelenburg gait is generally specifically identified when a patient has weak or absent gluteals. This particularly happens when the gluteus medius is torn. In general it is not due to any other reason. The most appropriate next investigation is an ultrasound of your hip to check the gluteal musculature.

@@orthopaedics360 So, Xray will not do it ??? I have a weak right hip . When, I walk , I am walking ( gait ) waddle side to side

@@debbiec6216 An Xray will only really show osteoarthritis. It cannot show the status of your gluteal musculature. An USS or MRI is required. An USS is the easiest to access, but an MRI can be beneficial if the tendon is found to be torn, as it can show the likely success of a repair - ie: if the muscular has undergone fatty infiltration (ie significant atrophy), then it can never be successfully repaired. If the muscle is good, but the tendon is fully torn off, then in general, surgery is required.
