Beautiful job on the restoration of Oscar...also glad to hear that you will still make smithing videos from time to time to aid us inexperienced ones! Stay well and safe! We've all missed your posts. Good to see you're still kicking *ass, LOL
I've felt badly about not making any videos and the last forge session I had was back in February when the smith in the UK hit up a challenge to blackbear forge with a call out.. I got ahold of him Daniel Moss and got the sheet, but did not get it done towards the end of February.. I sent Daniel a message and never got a response or shipping address.. So wrote it off. 19min 23sec start to finish.. I filmed it but since Daniel never got back to me, I deleted/or misplaced the footage. That was the last time I was in the trailer.. I'll do some filming tomorrow I've got a blacksmith twist handle to make on a fireplace poker and a set of hinges.. Doing demonstrations at the Bolton Fair in Lancaster, MA Thanks.. Oscar really needed some loving.. Poor fella.. He's like brand new now though.. :)
Thanks.. Labor of love.. :) Can't wait to make a chuck or pick up a chuck for holding taps.. that way I can also thread nuts.. Super nice is they offer every size and type of thread from Acme, to British.. etc, etc..
Hello.. Oscar jumped out at me.. The first time I saw the photos of the "for sale" I was like.. Dang what am I getting into.. Every single item was seized and rusted but dang did Oscar look like a junk can kinda fella.. :) Oscar the grouch it was.. He just needed a few big hugs, some food to regain some health and now looks and works great.. I'll post up some photos when I start making bolts and twisting bar stock with him.. Glad to hear about your Uncle.. Sounds like a great guy..
Hi Dan, Thanks.. Been busy with the school build and this machine.. Took me a month to get this done.. I only forge when I need something or see a need to show others techniques not shown elsewhere.. I haven't been a full-time smith for a long time now so forge mainly at demos or meets and with covid none of those have happened.. The Facebook page is about the best place as this gets updated regularly. facebook.com/jlpsinc/ Lotta people avoid Facebook but it's an easy and convenient way to show what;'s been going on..
Oh yah.. Everything is great.. I'm not a full-time smith.. Haven't been in many years now.. When I see a technique not shown in the normal streams people watch, I'll do a video to help increase skills and understanding.. I've always picked subjects that are lacking elsewhere.. Today there are so many fine smiths and Millions of videos on YT and elsewhere.. I do have a bunch of demos coming up over the next few weeks so maybe I'll be inspired.. :) Thanks for checking in..
@@jlpservicesinc1452 Excellent! Knew you were trying to set up shop for a school type thing. But the the Covids hit. Best of luck and positive energy well wishes and blessings abundant! Crawford out 🙏🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
@@dragonstonegemironworkscra4740 thanks.. it's been an interesting time with covid.. I've been a little preoccupied with my regular Farrier business and haven't been able to devote as much time to the shop/school build.. With that, this machine was the next item in the hold up, so now that it is finished I can get moving again.. :) Next few weeks and weekends are busy with demonstrations but the next big deal in the garage door and electric panels.. A way to follow along is on facebook.. Its easy so I end up updating information there..
