Texas fan to, but fuck our move to the sec. We were supposed to destroy the sith not join them. The big 12 felt like a family. I’m gonna miss our usual loss to Oklahoma State. I’m also the only one in my family that likes UT. Everyone else went to tech and that’s taken away now to. It’s bullshit.
@@avaught20 yes but those 100 loses are against the top sec teams , so you’ll continue to lose to them and at best be an average team in your new conference, so good luck tea sip
Coach Grundy has always impressed me as a great coach. He’s the kind of guy that these kids should want to play for. He’s always 100% real. Never afraid to stand up for his guys either.
A&M fan here, but coach Gundy seems to be giving rational, thoughtful answers. I always find it humorous when people say that money causes problems. Actually, it's the misuse use of money that might cause problems. I have never seen a case where poverty solved any problems either! It's all about the situation and how it is handled.
@markjohnson7488our leadership has been terrible across the board not just in athletics. some people on the board need to step down before they ruin this schools reputation. When you look at how they have handled some other situations it makes sense that the same people were willing to extend jimbo.
I totally agree with Coach Gundy. My opinion is this new money in college ball will ruin it. Players will start using the portal by going in and committing to a team and then finding a better offer, leave for another school. No loyalty, no school pride, just a tool to get more money and go to the NFL. Show me the money!
@@FreddyMacT I didn't say that, my point is the reason parity came about in the NFL, is because the handful of teams with the richest owners were showing up at the Super Bowl on a regular basis because they could afford ALL the best players contracts all the time. I see this about to happen in college, where the schools with the most and richest backers dominate forever. Also, right now a few top players "make the big bucks" on a team (that's how they're recruited in the first place) and the rest of the team gets a big mac once a week. Maybe we should distribute it equally among the scholarship players?
@@pzm2461 So you want equal shares salaries between players, despite different output? So kids have to do socialism, while Gundy profits from unfettered capitalism? Wow, hypocritical much? Listen my point is this loser Gundy is a piece of shit, and him playing a violin for the money in the game atm was nowhere to be found when it was just his ilk profiting over the table.
UCF fan here, I think the world of Coach Gundy. I was watching his press before the Space Game at our stadium, and after. He is incredibly inspirational, and holds true to our role model values here in central Florida. We are very fortunate to have a similar coach in value alignment with the Gus Bus. It was awesome to see them exchange so professionally, respectfully, and wisely during the match up of the universities. Coach Gundy is very intelligent, well spoken, and a class act. Can't wait to see him and the OSU fanbase in the future visits!
Colorado grad here. I have always appreciated Mike Gundy. A complete class act. OSU has been a consistent program due to having STABILITY. I admire the program like I admire Utah's. Really looking forward to getting back into the Big 12 and will be rooting for OSU this year.
I like Gundy's long tenure at OSU. I know people will say why keep a long term coach if he's not winning a lot, especially when the school is the one that decides to throw millions of dollars at him. It's not like coaches are begging to get paid. If a coach wins 9-10 games, we best believe their school or a half dozen others will line up ready to sign a check. However, I would have taken the long road with Jimbo, expectations be damned. I would have bet on what I know and what I know is that he has the ability and potential to beat any team in the country. He was short often and there's some reasons to give him more time but now A&M is going to end up with what might be an experimental hire, kinda like Napier at Florida, no guarantee that they will play Bama, LSU and Georgia close, much less win. Everyone thinks great coaches are just a hire away not realizing how scarce coaching talent is, even for a guy like Jimbo who wins 8-9 games (at least at A&M). Maybe A&M has a winning ticket but I'm not too optimistic. The odds are never in your favor.
He has to really careful about answering any of these questions, because he never knows what the future hold and his answers could be thrown back at him at a later date.
Correct. Think about Mississippi State. Then just fired a coach after 10 games. 10 games man. Wow. And he was paid little compared to OSU etc. Who the bell do they think they are? And A&M hired Ross Bjork. The guy is a clown. He set up that deal with Jimbo. Jimbo got more money being fired. Who takes that deal? Leftists who play with other peoples’ money.
@@Akronkangaroo he is in his 19th year there. Mississippi State just fired their coach after 10 games. 10. He’s been consistently successful at a school playing 2nd fiddle in a state with very little talent. But in coaching years 19 is “forever”. It just doesn’t happen anymore.
The transfer portal fallout happened exactly with us at Michigan State in 2021. Struck gold with Kenneth Walker, 11 win season, top 10 finish. Mel Tucker got $95,000,000 extension and look at us now.
So impressed with Gundy. As a Baylor alum, I definitely have coach envy. I wish the followup would have been, "Despite all these changes in CFB, which many do not see as positive, why do you still want to do this job?"
Excellent to hear that. Money causes problems, yes, it does. It'll stranglehold things in athletics to have a bunch as well as not enough. I'd say too much is worse. The ones paying into the program to " buy " a national title program want to run the show. That's not good. Good for you coach telling it like it is.
Longhorn ex here. A&M has the richest alums because so many major in engineering and not cultural studies. I’m jealous of their tradition and unity. I liked my school 40 years ago but it’s gone downhill. My grandson is applying to Stanford, CalTech, and A&M, and his first choice is the largest engineering school in the nation. I don’t blame him.
And A&M is proof that the more money one has does not equate to being successful. Hundreds of millions spent on that program and have not won a NC in almost 100 years.
@@Hayyyward Yeah so far that's true, but STILL. They can spend as little or as much as they want, and what difference does it make, it's not your money or mine.
@@TexAgs75 True but it could make a huge difference in what that money is spent on. It's obviously not going towards education, especially with their football program. 😁
enjoy hearing Coach straight honest down to earth , God bless you Mike ! Bout A&M they should have kept Jimbo until the end of the year, but ya have to keep your rich boosters & alumni happy. Not winning especially in the sec ya won’t stick around for long !
Absolute respect for Coach Mike Gundy. Often misquoted scripture goes like this, “Money is the root of all evil.” The actual verse says that, “For the LOVE of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”
I'm not an Ok State guy, but I've observed Gundy from a far for decades now. Very good coach, but I think he's peaked concerning how far he can take your team. Thoughts?
Texas fan here. There was a time I wished Texas would hire him bc he does so much with so little. He deserves a big-time job bc he has kept OK state relevant for over a decade.
He probably has , but since he is a pillar , he will coach there as long as he wants and to be honest don’t think they have the $ to afford better, good coach
I don't know why everybody is so surprised at Jimbo Fisher's buyout. He had a contract. A&M broke that contract by firing him. They need to pay the balance of that contract. End of story.
I like and respect Gundy but anyone who makes $7.5 million / year telling me how money causes problems is like Robert Allen telling me how I should watch my carbs. BTW, to whomever turns the comments off after a loss, that's a chick s- move.
I’ve Always liked this guy. I hope his players past and present understand what he’s saying. Especially the guys signing multi million dollar NFL deals.. This country is coveup with yesterdays millionaires….
Oil and petroleum products produce lots of money, that is reason Texas and A&M have lots of money. This modern age of College Football money may not be so important, transfers are making weak programs much better. That is Great but very hard for coaches. Darrell Royal and Berry Switzer could get fired. 😮
yeah I bet Mike Gundy thought the money was fine when he was the only one getting it. Truth is, don't commercialize college football if it's about students first... but it isn't, it's just a big business and a 2nd tier league before you can join the NFL.
Live in Philadelphia, have watched Gundy for years. I admire him so much. Says what everybody else is thinking. When Liberals and Freedom Police come for him, he destroys them. So Refreshing. OSU lucky to have him.
Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, they have money but they are smart with it. A&M is not. They throw money at problems hoping it will bring conference titles. Not happening.
Does being the highest paid head coach in the conference cause any problems? Say, perhaps, like being the only coach in the conference who can’t score a TD against UCF? Maybe a problem like the State of Oklahoma paying the highest salary in the league to a guy who can’t win a conference championship game?
anyone in the NCAA crying about money is a hypocrite, unless they're a player... the NCAA has treated them like slaves for far too long. I have zero sympathy for the coaches, organizations or the NCAA at large. Put up or shut up.
Let's put this into prospective. It's to coach football, most Americans grind paycheck to paycheck and kill themselves for a vacation. I this is a problem. Keep grinding folks!
