Holy shot, triggermetimbers from some 490 users. I'm tired of re stating what i have said in countless comments so im going to pin this. In the video i never explicitly said i HATED THE 490, i just said i cant recommend it bc i still have input lag and so do 23 (at this time of the strawpoll)other people. Half of the people commenting obviously didnt finish the video before writing their comment because i said aesthetically its my favorite tablet and i spent a lot of money on it and wish i could use it. I'm not hating on the 490 but come on, realistically if the tablet is about $70-$80 and there is a 50-50 chance of it working would you really take that risk? I got 2 480s for the price of my 490 and my friend has gotten his 471 for $40. Logically its just not a risk worth taking IMO but hey some people wont see logic through..... its only usable if its the only tablet uve ever owned, legit anyone who is thinking of buying the 490, dont, wait instead, save some money and buy a ctl 480, dont know if the cth is much better but i think its only touch that is the difference
In my opinion it's a really good option, and I've been using it for 1 and a half year now (413 hours of playtime) and yes I drag it all the time, I don't hover. The rechargeable Huion pens are a nice upgrade over the original AAA one, as its a bit more narrow and lighter btw ;)
Just a small addition - there is a Huion pen without a battery (Huion P80 I think). Also I have the huion for over a year now, I always dragged and it still works fine
VelocityFTW I used the first set that came with the Tablet up quite quickly because I was pressing the pen down *waaay* too hard. Got the P80 pen mid-july and I am still using the nib it came with. So this is my... 6th nib? Not sure. Also idk if the nib being a bit worn out makes me perform worse, need to try that xD Also I actually got myself a ctl471 about October but went back to the huion im December bc I couldn't get shit done with the wacom (extremely shaky aim etc) but the video kinda made me want to try using the wacom again ^^
I have used the Huion420 for the past few months, no problems so far, works like new. Used it a bit for drawing aswell, so I dragged a bit, and I hover for osu. Works just fine for me, don't know what you're talking about...
For your 490 lag, put electrical tape on the pen top making it push the tip down (thinking the pen is dragged down) and when it hovers there will be much less input lag but more shaky, speaking from a person who use the 490 since my start of osu
As a digital artist with experience who started playing osu recently, I recommend the wacom intuos small. Its size is perfect and the pen has 3 nibs replacements in it. It also has 4 buttons (and 2 buttons on the pen) on it which you can change to whatever you want. It is also very thin and portable. It comes in wireless and wired but the pen doesnt need recharging or a wire. For a drawing tablet, its extremely cheap, you just need to find the right place to buy it. I got it for 60 euros but at my local store it was 240 euros. If youre interested in digital art, it also has a variety of sensitivity Edit: forgot to mention but it has no input lag at all in the 3 years of using it
saying huion's model of the 420 and h420 being trash is going a bit too far. The input lags you've been receiving is dependent on the current h420 or 420 you have or commonly just your computer, if your surface on the tab is rough due to continuous dragging, its probably because you drag too hard. though I agree on the pen battery being a bit shit and the overall plastic
Wont recommend getting the 420 with p80 pen if u hover if u drag its ok to get p80 otherwise it turns off after 3 minutes of not pressing the tip in toy uses trash tablet xD

i Have a Huion 420 and as long as you hover its great. i dont know how you can have noticeably bad input lag on it. try not downloading shadow of mordor, watching netflix, and rendering a video while you play, i get 0.50 ms delay so I have no complaints.
It's honestly a really good tablet. I have no complaints about it. At first I got really confused about why it was so sensitive but I figured out that the tablet has its own config which can be found on the XP tablet website and download the proper link. It was like $30 something for me and its amazing. Great responsiveness
Dude It's really bad to just SHIT on the huion. My huion which I had for more than 2 years works perfectly. oh and I also drag. It's a really good tablet if you wanna go budget. Even Toy has it and a lot of players like lamahd and many more. P.S huion has less input lag than Wacom.
I dont think its the best tablet on a budget, XP Pen wins that. I've had nothing but horrible experiences with huion so i cant recommend it. I don't doubt some people like it, but by the time you spend money on extra batteries the cost goes up past the XP pen. It also doesn't feel near as fast or fluid as any wacom ive tried.
I'm surprised you didn't have the XP Pen G540 listed in this video. Probably the best tablet for osu, cheapest, same size as the 480, batteryless, higher polling rate, and it's significantly cheaper than the 480.
My 490 works magically somehow, no idea do not ask me how( I hover and have 2ms, no idea how once again). But it has input lag perhaps because it was made for drawing, not osu! lol
Even a mouse has 2ms. the new wacom Intuos line up is what the intuos should've always been. a simple drawing tablet. If people want more. they must pay more and get either the intuos pro, or a cintiq GG wacom...G fucking G.
I have a 490 (I think? It's sold as something different here - draw or art or smth like that) mainly because i bought it before I started playing osu for art purposes, and I've never had too much of an issue with it really. It's not that expensive if you buy it in some stores in the UK either, think I got mine for the equivalent of about $40. So if you want a tablet that's gonna be great for art and pretty good for osu, it's not too bad ^^
Exactly - I'm not amazing at the game, I can pass 5.7 star maps max, so it really doesn't matter at all for me lol. If I ever want to get better at the game, I'll consider buying one of the other tablets, but for now this one fits me perfectly.
I also have the draw one (the 490 without touchscreen). I had some input lag but now it works really nice, I also use it for drawing. I had to reduce the area for osu! tho, it was too big
Word of advice. Don't buy the Xp pen if you are a hoverer and are used to Huion H420. I played a while with the H420 and decided to buy the Xp pen tablet as an upgrade. Turned out I couldn't use it because it's hover range isn't as long as Huion's. I tried to hover lower, or change to dragging, but I just couldn't play like that and I'm back with Huion, and liking it a lot :) Would get a Wacom 480 or 471 but cant really find them anywhere :(
I have that wacom tablet 490 and I think that input lag issue might be related to "windows ink" if you are using win 10. I think that box "Use windows ink" should be unchecked at least in your settings for osu, although I unchecked it in most of the apps... Except Photoshop, if I remember correctly... However I might be wrong about this, but at least people who have problems could test it around. Hope this helps to someone. (also I'm bad osu player so I could be missing slight input lag problems)
Aleksandar Delic from what i know the only difference in switching that setting off was that it removed the stuttering when you touched the tablet with the pen. Presumably from the drag scroll thing featured in windows
For the 490, just tape the bottom of the pen or the pen nib to decrease input lag. Once I found that out, its been much better ever since. Although, the 480 for some a e s t h e t i c s. 490 if you plan on doing something productive and useful with the tablet besides playing a rhythm game where you click circ- oh wait.
yeah.. 480>490 any day for both things.. oh and osu is a reaction time game. It stopped being a rhythm game when DTPP became a thing :^) /me runs far far away laughing
Been using my 420 for about a year now - no noticeable input lag whatsoever. Maybe the 420 is another "slot machine"? Though other comments seem to suggest it works fine for them, too... (Oh, and I only hover, so I can't say anything about your first issue)

Just wanted to say that ive been using a huion 420 for a year, even tho i always drop the pen cause im retarded af and penspin with it between maps, its still working very well. at the start it had some issues but i fixed them all and now i went from 4 stars to 5.2 stars with it :D (im still bad af)
Ive been using the hurion 420 and its not bad ive been using it for about 2 months now and i ranked up so fast so if you wanna start using pen try this one but if you play serious use these other option
True, mouse sucks. I'm a mouse and keyboard player and i can only do at least 4☆ maps, i can't move with precision using the mouse and need a high sensibility to play because of my mousepad, it's really small lol.
CTL 480 is the best. This is just my opinion but I have tried a turcom (forgot the number but big af), huion 420, ctl 471, xp pen g430, and xp pen g540. In terms of what has the best input in my opinion it's close between CTL 480 and xp pen (g430/540). With 9w5 driver on ctl 480 it has less input lag but really shaky and with 10w2 they are the same. Huion is AWFUL, I dragged with it when first getting into osu and your movements don't seem to be as accurate the longer you use the thing. There is a bit of input lag as well. Not to mention BIG ASS pen but I know there's another that's smaller. Turcom was fine in terms of input lag but i didn't like the pen and software. CTL 471 has a nice pen although the area felt weird because with this particular tablet, you can't use raw input and so that requires you to have a max sensitivity of 1x. This meant you adjust tablet sensitivity with area (SUPER SMALL AREA). CTL 480 was the best I used, only issue I had was that my pen seemed FAIRLY off when playing after throwing it a few times as well as spinning 470 rpm. It also felt off once I started dragging but I bought another and started to hover. This is long AF and I just wanted those to know that ctl 480 is the best before they waste their money on multiple tablets like I did. I also haven't tried gaomon but there's complaints about the sensors.
I have the ctl490dw and... I have no input lag, but im not a good osu player I MEAN, IM NOT 1000 OR ABOVE, so... Im just going to say... Kablaze uses a 490 and some other good players too, idk why the drivers problem, i had input lag but drivers fixed it, i bought it in a store here in argentina (idk if that is important)
it seems like people that bought it from a certain amazon seller are having issues. Its a shame really, so many people getting dicked out of their money
I reported the issue to wacom half a year ago they said they are working on it but maybe they just dont care? The input lag is on all 490's I am pretty sure of that, just many got so used to it that they dont know it actually has input lag. Others dont notice it because they drag! The input lag is much higher when you hover.
pasi123567 Well about input lag, as I used to play Geometry Dash, I always played with Vsync on, which increased the input lag by a tonne, unknown to me. When I turned it off, I didn't really notice anything in actual gameplay; what I did notice, is that I got much much more consistent in levels than I was before. After playing like this for like a week, I turned it back to default because of screen tearing, and I couldn't play with it anymore! It felt really unnatural and weird in general because everything seemed to react so slowly, and it's weird to think I had been playing like that for two years. Concluding: I think input lag is something you will get used to if you don't know better, but less input lag will definitely boost your performance, at least did for me
Use a mouse for 2 hours. Then go back to the tablet... and try to be as fluid as with the mouse. That's how I noticed it... and it sucks (each driver seems to be worse, I'm using the very first driver I downloaded back when the thing launched... and it *kinda* works...input lag is still there, dragging with the cheap pen that the thing has is awful) Argentino as well.
it's safe to say I'm alot worse than you n will have a tougher time playing the game, let alone with a pen. but I'm still going to get an xp pen, I just really like the game lol

I know what it feels bro. I bought a ctl 490 and the first time i used it was soooo laggy, the input lag was huge. But as you say some people got fixed this problem with the new drivers, i did xD Its a really good option but if it is gonna be a matter of luck if you're gonna suffer input lag or not i couldn't recommend this tablet neither.
best tablet has: no hw smoothing low latency light and thin pen somewhat glidy surface good accuracy wacom ctl-472 but with a tablet cover (ctl-480 has a heavy pen)
How can I see if there is input lag on my 490? Can osu Display the input lag? Sorry if Im being stupid but I've just got my cth-490 recently and Im not really into this thing you know...
So i use the cth490 with tape on the nib and i tried something the other day which was going into the task manager bar > services and disabling "WTabletServicePro" and for some reason with the driver services off the pen feels much faster, although you don't have access to changing area etc, but you can change the sens ingame to change the area, idk i just play with drivers service off now feels much better.
3:51 - You mention "no batteries" but do you then have to charge your pen or how the fk?... I have a tablet rn with a pen using batteries and I've used the same battery for that tablet for 1 year now without switching battery. I don't see the con with having no battery?
It uses your body’s magnetism to power it. Like touchscreens. I know several people who have had to change batteries a lot. I also know people that haven’t had to change at all (like yourself). It’s a con because you have to buy them and use them period
like who would osu the 490 with wacom drivers??? they are inputlag heavy! Dont use it with wacom drivers, but with the custom osu driver aka. tabletdriverGUI which has basicly no inputlag which pretty much makes it the best tablet (maybe besides the 490)
As a 490 user, I completely respect your opinion on it. From my experience, I bought it at a Best Buy in 2014. I update my drivers Everytime there's a new one. It's been the tablet I've been using for over 3 years now and has been a favorite of mine. The input lag is non-existent for me so it could depend on where you buy it. I draw on it, play osu!, etc. Its my favorite tablet out of all the tablets I've used so far.
i don't fucking know but I bought one from Trust and it completely fucked me it doesn't read right and it makes random jumps lol and the pen broke when I put in the battery it wont close right
i think if i'd change my tablet from huion 420 i would be a lot worse because im just so used to everything it does. even if it has input lag, i got so used to it, that i dont notice/cant play as well without it p.s. osu rank is ~360 right now
I have no input lag on CTL-490, I use Driver Ver. : 6.3.22-6. To fix the "input lag" I unchecked the "Use Windows Ink" box in the Wacom Tablet Properties program. This box can be found under the "Mapping" tab. YW :3
I had the 480 and I LOVED it but than it got broken about a year ago... And than I had to buy the 490 (two times) and I HATE It so fucking much... Extremely high input lag even outside of osu! I HATE this peace of shit... especially that THIS is the successor...

Drawing Tablets have absolute tracking whereas mice do not. Most people will recommend either Wacom or XP-Pen brand tablets. Wacom is more expensive, while XP-Pen is cheaper. Both of them are battery-less . At first i was looking at the XP-Pen Star G430 ( www.xp-pen.com/goods/show/id/36.html ) OSU Tablet but noticed the area was a bit small. I then saw the XP-Pen G640 ( www.xp-pen.com/goods/show/id/250.html ) on sale for 40 . It seems similar to the G430 with a larger active area (which I like). 6 x 4 inches active area is enough for Osu! and it Runs OSU well. no input lag to use for faster maps.
I am not going to mention hovering with CTL490 because it’s absolute shit, but with some burdensome usage of third party software can get your refresh rate at about 130-135Hz while dragging, which is fairly good and shows superiorly little input lag. However, nibs are then the issue. So I’d honestly just recommend CTL471 and CTH480, those two really are the best options. Although, I think the hover lift distance is slightly longer on CTH480 (?), so if anyone used both and noticed the difference, would appreciate, if you shed some light on me.
Stay away from the huions 420 and h420. Get a xp pen g640 if you don't want/can't afford a Wacom. If for you some reason you can't pay the extra 10 bucks get the xp pen g430. I prefer the 640 cause 430 is too small imo. Basically the same thing though but 640 is just bigger
Then the XP pen is the one for me. I already have a wacom tablet but the issue is that it's DESIGNED FOR DIGITAL DRAWING NOT OSU so for maps that area really quick I end up having my elbow hurting so I need a smaller tablet.
I'm thinking about getting a tablet and the one I'll probably get is the XP-Pen G430. But the thing is, XP-Pen has a newer G540, which is 5.5x4 in terms of play area. It uses the same pen. Should I get the G430 or the G540?
lel i bought h420 for graphic design and i use it for osu worx gr8 I hover, and get no input lag. I actually genuinely like this pen for the performance/price ratio. I also play in windowed mode without letterboxing. ( I can't do fullscreen AT ALL) It's probably because I'm a lefty
I love the 490 Wacom tablet. Maybe because it's the only one I have. :(. But I don't sense a difference and I think maybe it depends on hover or drag because I use drag. EDIT: Yes the tablet has HARD hover lag. Drag lag is basically impossible to notice.
