Class act Pat Abold, he backed off at 8:17 after making contact with Bellinger in the 4th turn, allowing both of them to straighten out then race for the win rather then one or both wrecking.
All entry-level, and even many "seasoned", open-wheel divisions should require their drivers to watch this video to teach sportsmanship and to learn what "hard, cleaning racing" requires. Last year, I witnessed an event for Tri-Track Open Modified Series at Monadnock during which the second place driver without compunction maliciously drove into the turn without breaking as they ended turn three, knocking the leader aside. He knew not penalty would ensue and sneered at the driver he had punted. Let's hope racing of this ilk returns!
Crazy cool finish!! Does anyone have the '91 classic? My dad and I were there and I'd love to see the race again. I'd also like to see the Sharkey accident in the B from that year- I wasn't watching there when it happened and never figured out what caused him to wreck. Just a curiosity thing.
