Unfortunately the Chicago suburb I live in uses the 2001 sirens, which can’t make this sound.

I knew what alternate wail was long before siren head was a thing.

I live near it but I never heard it because tornados are uncommon

Weird, I wonder why that is. Hopefully it doesn't signal the end of their Modulators sounding alternate wail.

@@BusMaster99 There are videos of them doing both signals for tornado warnings in the past. Everything does alert for tests, but it would seem that the 2001s do attack and the Mods/DSAs do wail when they set the system off in wail, and the 2001s do fast wail and the mods/DSAs do alt wail (wrigley does fast wail) when the system is set off in fast wail.

Too bad even a really good pair of headphones can't come close to how loud the tornado sirens were. The T-128 drowned mine out almost completely whenever it rotated in my direction.

No 2001s near me, only T-128s.

In my opinion its not siren head.

Sounds more like a Thunderbolt if anything, especially on wind down. Chicago uses the same tone for tornado warnings.

That's what I use as my "tornado siren." I set it off literally 30 seconds before the Oswego system fired up.

Funny enough, the link for the sound is in the description. But yes, the Siratone recording sounds good. I use a dedicated soundboard now instead.
