Queste tipologie affascinanti e queste macchine eterne fatte per durare e soprattutto riparare, bellissimo! Il suono dei generatori e dei motori in c.c. sono ineguagliabili. Quelli odierni ad inverter non sono da paragonare con questi, fidatevi li ho manutenuti con soddisfazione per anni!
These old elevators are electro mechanical marvells... And well maintained ones too. That spinning spiral contraption is the floor selector, used to determine the current position. Most of the noise in the motor room is coming from the DC gensets (AC motor running a DC generator) powering the traction motors. This was the tech used before two-speed motors became mainstream as with DC it was much easier to control traction motor speed.
Absolutely Marvelous! These elevators are well oiled and maintained over the last 57 years. They are geared DC traction machines, powered by an MG (motor generator) set Controller cabinet contains the floor relays, open/close interlock brake relays, etc. The floor selector (part that moves up and down). 3 phase AC power to controller.
Classic Otis equipment, built to run and run and with decent maintenance it can do. This is the very compact arrangement with the selector built into the back of the controller cabinet. That’s a bit strange as there’s plenty of room in the machine room for the usual layout.
I lived at an apartment complex with pretty much that same Otis lift system. Always fun to duck in there when I had to go to the mailbox or something and watch the relay boards clatter away and the traction motors operate.
Looks like that elevator had a light modernisation in the early to mid 1990s as that’s when the Dewhurst buttons and indicator would be from. Dewhurst also discontinued the digit LED indicator inside that elevator around the early to mid 1990s in favour of their dot matrix display but the buttons didn’t go into widespread use until the beginning of the 1990s.
Au Québec ( 9:42 ) .Je ne connaissais pas ce genre d'agencement : Ce doit être galère en maintenance : sélecteur coincé dans l'armoire de manœuvre, moteur également dessous. Jamais vu cela en France ! de même que les portes à un seul vantail :Il faut du dégagement sur le coté , et le ruban de sélecteur passant sur la poulie de traction . . Spécifique à l'Amérique du nord ? Je suis retraité d'Otis France depuis 2008, après 42 ans de service !
