Otis wasn't supposed to make a record with STAX Records in Memphis at all from the beginning. His buddy was the one who orginally was supposed to record. In between the takes Otis stepped forward to a microphone and began singing an own written song called These Arms of Mine. The staff at STAX got super exited and asked the guy in the control room like "please tell me you got this on tape!!" He did get it on tape! That's how Otis' short but very intensive career and during the years he was performing he was known as Mr 100 %. He always gave his all regardless if it was in the studio or on stage.

This was done in 1967 at Monterey, Ca., for Three Days on June 16th, 17th, and 18th. The name of the Festival is Monterey Pop and it was the biggest Musical Festivals until Woodstock. It was organized by John Phillips (RIP), of The Mamas & The Papas. Besides them, Sam & Dave, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who also appeared on The Show. Yet the highlight was when a Young Guitar Player who once worked with The Isley Brothers and Little Richard went to The Microphone and said "Hey Man You've Heard The Last Of Surfing Music!" The Beach Boys were supposed to perform but Brian Wilson said no, and Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones wanted to perform but he couldn't get a Visa for a Passport becaues of his Drug Conviction. Otis recorded for Stax Records and also Wrote "Respect" which of course became Aretha Franklin's First Number One Hit. HIs Songs have been featured in Movies like Catholic Boys, Cousins, and Dirty Dancing. Sadly he would die in a Plane Crash in 1967. He also bought the house down in England. If you can check out Ready Steady Go. Also this was a poignant time because alot of Young Men were being sent to Vietnam. It as 180% from Motown.

This was one of Otis' last performances, and perhaps, his best version of this song. Interestingly enough, this performance, from The 1967 Monterey Pop Festival had three seminal performances. This from Otis, Jimi Hendrix doing "Wild Thing" (which you'll never be able to post a reaction to) and Janis Joplin doing "Ball And Chain". Otis died in 1967 at 26, Jimi died at 27 in September 1970, and Janis died at 27 in October 1970.
