I hate Triple H. Bret Hart passed the torch to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 12. Then Shawn faked a knee injury so he wouldn't have to lose to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. Bret Hart is a man's man.
HHH’s analogy comparing Hogan and Bret to Bret and Michael’s is not even close....Difference between Bret having heat with Hogan for not wanting to put him over vs Bret’s heat between he and Shawn is that unlike Shawn saying to Bret, I’m not willing to put you over, Bret never said that to Hogan....and Bret had already verbally said to Micheal’s that he would put him over until Micheal’s said what he said....Hogan was just egotistical but that’s no surprise because Hogan hardly put anyone over....
I see everyone ragging on Triple H, but people have to remember this was 1998, this is when guys were still trying to protect the business in a sense...so Hunter is just in character...lol you should watch the stone cold interview on off the record...he never gets outta character.
Settle down marks, he was in character. DX were the top heels in the company at the time. Hunter was right about what he said about Bret. Bret was so mad when Hogan wouldn't put over him over but then he didn't the same to HBK. I say this being a fan of DX and Bret but the truth is for all the shit people talk about the Kliq Bret only did 2 clean jobs in the WWE after he won his first WWE title in 92. Owen at WM 10 and HBK at WM 12. And the owen job wasn't that big of a deal to him because Bret still beat Yokozuna for the title in the main event at the end of the night.
Dave.C All I said was the facts. That's being more of mark then these young fans that weren't old enough to watch 90's wrestling but they just have this opinion because it's the opinion you should have if your a wrestling fan??
Bret Hart not doing many clean jobs between 1994-1997 is less indicative of him not wanting to, and more (in my opinion) indicating of the booking of faces back then, to not lose clean for the most part. Case and point, I'm pretty sure Undertaker rarely if ever lost clean during those same years, and I doubt Shawn Michaels did often following his face turn in 95.
triple h is so full of lying shit. bret hart did the job and passed the torch to michaels in wm12 in 1996 clean in the middle of the ring. when vince wanted shawn to drop the title at wm13 to bret hart michaels made up this bullshit injury so he wouldn't have to job to bret. that's why bret didn't want to job to michaels at survivor series 97. very understandable imo
I don't like watching wrestling. It's not exciting to me. But I am fascinated by the stories of wrestlers on the road. I love hearing what it's like to be going from city to city, the relationships that the wrestlers develop behind the scenes, and so on. Needless to say I live for shoot interviews =)
It's kinda neat to see Hunter in his childish character in the first bit, and then make a clear switch back to his normal self. It was a bad thing that they did to Bret, but I think Vince was in the right. Reading Bret's autobiography only hammered that fact in for me. It's called karma, Bret. And boy did it ever bite you in the butt. Though I do feel bad for him with the seizure. That was awful, and I'm glad he conquered it.
The only thing HHH said that I agree is how it was wrong Bret wanted to win or DQ in MTL and drop the belt on Raw the next day and go to WCW. Can’t do that
Bret only refused to lose to Shawn on that night. He didn't refuse to lose to him on any of his 30 remaining days after the Survivor Series. And there was no possibility of Bret showing up on Nitro with the belt. Bret still had 30 days remaining with the WWF in his contract. And besides anyone who knows Bret knows he would never do something like that. And anyone who knows the history between Shawn and Bret would understand completley why Bret refused to lose to Shawn at the Survivor Series.
Dude you haven't seen anything yet. I have probably one of the most obscure WWE related broadcasts ever. All three of the above are on the Canadian Home Shopping Network and it is completely insane. It's an hour or so and will be like 10 parts but well worth it, I promise.
HHH makes a great point. Bret bitches non-stop about Hogan at WM9, despite Hogan dragging Hart into McMahon’s office directly in tears because it was clear Vince was trying to poison the boys against him on the way out.
The bottom line on the Bret Hart screwjob is that Vince had to protect the WWF. He couldn't allow Bishoff to appear on Nitro at 8PM the next night and claim that WCW had signed the current WWF Champion. If Vince allowed it Bishoff would've in all intent and purposes announced he just signed the WWF title.
it's not insulting. back in the days of kayfabe, people still knew wrestling isn't real, and that wrestlers play characters on TV. but kayfabe made it possible for people to doubt if something is fake or real, and made it possible for people to get into the illusion of reality that wrestling presented. After the exposure of the business wrestling can't be taken seriously anymore. I guess it was inevitable for wrestling to expose itself, but wrestling's best days are long gone.
I can see triple h going in and out of character because he trying to defend Shawn and the company but since he has to try and stay in character he trying to be funny about it
Obviously Triple H was playing his character even on the show. He was really tring to get the Canadian viewers to believe that he actually hated Canada and the Canadians.
@pgs916 But we won it four years later in Salt lake city against USA and we won it in Vancouver 2010 against USA as well, we just didn't want to win it in Nagano Japan because we are all psychic here in Canada and wanted to beat you both in your country and ours. Its more meaningful winning it in North America, not Japan.
This Triple H and who he is right now is definitely two different person. This is someone who is still finding what he wants in life and of course, immature. The Head Of Creative Triple H is experienced and of course, mature and understood every aspect of the business.
Triple H saying that Bret had issue with Hogan over not dropping the belt yes. Hogan refused to drop the belt to Bret and pass the torch. That's not what happened between Bret and Shawn. Bret would have dropped the belt to Shawn if Shawn hadn't been an ahole. Bret a few weeks prior had told Shawn he would always be professional in the ring with him and put him over anytime. Shawn then told Bret thank you but I wouldn't wouldn't do the same. So Bret said screw Shawn I'm not dropping the belt until he shows me some respect. Triple H leaves that out. Not shame on Bret. Shame on Shawn and Triple H.
I completely agree with your last few lines. bret is a bittered man and takes himself way too seriously. but it doesn't change the fact that triple h was lying not to mention bret offered to give the physical title belt to mcmahon after survivor series so he wouldn't be able to show it in wcw even if he wanted to.
if your boss tells u to do something u do it. No matter how long you been working for him, he still is the boss. I don't blame vince for doing what he did. It's his company and thats what he wanted done. bret should have just done his job.
lol, freakn triple H. Pretty sure he knew what was gonna happen with Bret and Shawn, Shawn knew. And Shawn was probably crying because he knew what he had done and lied about not knowing.
Bret hates Triple H cause Shawn wasn’t sure if he should screw Bret and Triple H was like screw him you need to do it. Really the whole thing was ridiculous on both sides. Bret was delusional about being an icon like losing the belt would really affect how people saw him. When he had lost it before and it never mattered.
As Steve Austin said in his pre speech inducting Bret into the Hall of game, Bret did think it was real which is why he was so good... Bret was willing to lose the belt clean to Michael’s which was something Bret said to him....it wasn’t until after Bret told Shawn that, that Shawn fired back, I just want you to know that I wouldn’t be willing to do the same to you AND THAT is why Bret then refused to put over Michael’s.....it comes down to doing the honors, which Bret already had done for Micheal’s at Mania 12....why would he (Bret) do it again for someone who had already “lost his smile” in order to get out of putting Bret over at Mania 13 and then on top of that verbally say I refuse to ever put you over.....in the end none of it really matters except the only real thing to happen in pro wrestling which was Bret knocking out Vince McMahon....yeah, Mcmahon went on to be extremely successful but Vince even knew that he had to face Bret after what happened.....
88smjls I don’t know why Bret does but it sounds like Triple H when I saw the last video I saw that when I saw that I saw triple H refuse to drink I didn’t know that he doesn’t drink
do you even know your wrestling? Hart didnt put micheals over???micheals greatest moment was winning his first championship title iron man match against HART.. micheals also had the gaul to tell the referee to tell bret to get the fk out of his ring after the match.. it was micheals who refused to return the favour when he lost his smile (cough and left),.when micheals kept avoiding putting bret hart over, bret basically said im not jobbing for someone who isnt willing to do the same for me
Simple as that, Randy should've won this match at WM, Randy never beat HHH except at No Mercy 07 after HHH competed not in one, or two but three matches, Orton's first title reign came short thanks to HHH, I don't know much about HHH using backstage politics but from what I see, it is either that Vince doesn't want Orton to move to the higher level(which I doubt) or it is either HHH and Stephanie using their power to overrule Vince's decisions and putting Hunter over Randy all the time.
but without the physical title around him it wouldn't matter. now he was screwed, he could be considered the real wwf champion when entering wcw. except wcw screwed that up totally.
so werid if you watch the OTR with HHh i think it was from 2004 he acts so different u can tottally tell he was acting the whole atitude era in this clip
But Bret was leaving the company after Survivor Series '97. Did Bret really think WWE was going to leave WWE and go to WCW with the WWE World Championship. WWE had been burned by this before with Alundra Balze who was the women's champion. Shawn has also tried to extend the olive branch to Bret Hart but, the bitter man Bret Hart became after Survivor Series, doesn't want to try and mend these broken fences. It was 12 years ago. You can't stay bitter your whole life.
