I'm not really shocked that Ottawa picked Yakemchuk because this is a case of the team seeing qualities in the player they like. What I'm more shocked about is that Yakemchuk WAS the 2nd Defenseman to be picked in the draft before guys like Silayev, Dickinson, and the big one Zeev Buium.

Plan is to bring the cup into Kanata. But in 2025? I doubt it. However, You can expect the Sens to be playoff contenders this year. We will likely finish 8th or 7th in the East. As every year progresses, We will finish 6th-5th, 4th or 3rd, And eventually be with Boston at the top. Is our rebuild done? For sure. Now it's time to see the boys slowly build as playoff contenders.

personally I wanted berkly catton in the 1st then draft a defenseman in the 2nd but this is definitely is a good pick he is probably one of the best RD your gonna get out of the draft ottawa already has too many LD so they probably weren't gonna take dickinson even though he is probably the best defenseman there and parekh is really good offensively but kind of gives up defensively with playing physical in the corners. The main think yakemchuk will have to work on is his skating but he will be able to work on that significantly with the sens skating coach shelley kettles, Other than that he could potentially have a very good career in ottawa.

Personally I don't fw it at 7. All his highlights are him toe dragging and putting it through people's legs that's not gonna happen in the NHL so he's gotta adapt. Also super mediocre defensively I really hope he puts in the work to turn out but idk
