Greetings from Pakistan. I can't, tbh, describe in words how much of the love I've got for Turkey, as a matter of fact loving my Turk brothers is more like a faith to me. Since my childhood I've been brought up listening to the beautiful stories of Ottoman Sultans starting from Suleyman Shah, Erturgul Ghazi, Osman 1, Yildirim, Sultan Fatih, Suleyman the magnificent and Sultan Abdul Hamid. Knowing their history, it'd be suffice to say, despite being the super power of their time, despite being the kings of Europe, Asia and Africa they ruled with justice and love regardless of ppl's faith, color or creed, whether they were Muslims, Christians or Jews. Ottomans set the examples of humanity, tolerance, harmony, selflessness and brotherhood. In this world of today where mayhem and chaos are so common we desperately need more ppl like Ottomans. Wilkomir Borowic In Istanbul there is a village called Polonezköy which means “Village of the Polish” it was built for Polish soldiers and civillians who escaped from Russians to Ottoman empire. There are still Polish people live there. I recommend you to visit there.

Babur, the first Mughal emperor, traced his ancestry back to Timur: the same guy who captured and imprisoned an Ottoman sultan at the battle of Ankara. The Mughals of the Indian subcontinent were an off shoot of the Timurids who originally ruled the oasis settlements of Central Asia such as Samarkand and Bukhara. The Indian Subcontinent has historically had a LOT of contact and cultural mixing with peoples that originate from Central Asia. Turkic tribes didn't just leave Mongolia/Central Asia and head west only, but they also ended up in lots of other places too: from places as far apart and diverse as Russia, China Persia and India. Ask any Uzbek friends that you have about their people's historical links to India. You do consider Uzbeks Turks, yes? If you do, your Uzbek friends will confirm the above.

Your definition of Turkish/Turkic is quite an arbitrary and very modern categorisation that only came about with fall of the Ottoman Caliphate and the establishment of the Turkish Republic that then pushed this narrative on their population in order to consolidate the idea of the state as an entity, thereby aiding to legitimise the newly established Turkish State in the minds of the inhabitants that occupied the parts of the Ottoman Empire that the newly formed Turkish state inherited.

Much respect from Algeria, i am from a small city called Kolea that was Ottoman in the past. Most of my neighbours and family have Ottoman family names like: Khodja Ali (koca ali), Boushnak (Bosniak), Veneziano, Kuchuk Yusef, Deli, Karadeniz, karayussef or Grik Hassan.My family name was "Reis",from what we know our ancestor " Sidi Saref Hajji Reis" was a minor capitan of the Janissary Ocak , unfortunatly the French took away all the Ottoman archives when Algiers fell in 1830 and i dont knwo why but thy still dont want to give them back (probably because it records the fact that France owed Algeria money, as we sold them supplies during the napolenic wars and they did not want to pay back). So it is hard to trace our families history we only have thoses names or the stories from our elders, we still use some Osman vocabulary too. Some Janissary married local women they called the children Khoulougli (kuloğlu ) its a very comon family name in Algeria too. A lot of people in the north part of Algeria are from Ottoman ancestry as Algiers was the biggest pirates city under the empire, but i m sad that we dont have our Sultan anymore, the Turks took him away and with him our glory...
