I learned to flyfish on the small Otway streams ... if you can cast there, you can cast anywhere. Some surprisingly large fish for such skinny water. In WDC - I suspect many of the fish are sea-runs; feasting on baitfish to put on their size. Thanks for the gr eat filing and sharing.
Where was this at? I have been trying to catch a trout for the first time and I’m struggling, I live around Apollo bay and have been going to smaller creeks with no success(Maybe because the water is low??) but am thinking of going to Brahma river to give it a shot. Any other tips that you could give me or lure suggestions for this season and weather?
Never been to Brahma river but lots of good spots around Apollo Bay - Skene's, Smythes, Gellibrand, Cumberland & even the Barwon all hold trout. With the water low you just need to find the bigger pools & I mostly use the Rapala CD & floating lures but caught the big rainbow on a $4 lure off Aliexpress! Good luck.
